Carnival’s Winter Warm-up Sail-A-Thon

Before we had kids – Ronda and I went on a number of Valentine’s Week cruises. Our last cruise during this week was in 2003, when Ronda was pregnant with Brian. An eight day Southern Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Legend.

If you think cruising is romantic – you really should try it during Valentines. There’s nothing like it. We would do it again in a snap, but with the kids in school now it’s just not an option – for now. Oddly enough, leaving a bowl of food and water in the corner while we whisk off on another cruise getaway doesn’t cut it according to Ronda.

Let’s face it. It’s cold outside and we’re thinking of some place warm. With the way this winter has hit everyone with snow, it’s probably more prevalent than in years past.

BandBVacations.com, YTB Travel Network, and Carnival Cruise Lines can help you out with those winter blues with a Winter Warm-up Sail-A-Thon right from the comfort of your own home.

Carnival and YTB was the first to offer this type of free webinar several years ago – and they’ve been a huge hit with clients, agents, and Carnival. I’ve lost count on how many we’ve done with them – but it’s super easy to do for them, and super easy for you to participate. Just hit our booking engine tomorrow night.

It all starts at 7:oo pm – 6:00 pm Central. YTB Travel Network President Kim Sorensen will also be interacting on Facebook with trivia questions and posting cruise pictures on his fan page. The broadcast will re-air each hour during the evening, so if you miss it at 7:00 pm, you can catch it again at 8:00 – 9:00 – 10:00 and 11:00.

This is a great time of year to be booking a cruise for the summer. Carnival has an Early Saver program that can save hundreds on the cost of a cruise.

Prior to launching year-round Caribbean service from Galveston, Carnival Magic will operate a series of seven-, nine- and 12-day Mediterranean voyages from Barcelona May 1 to Oct. 16, 2011; followed by a 16-day trans-Atlantic crossing from Barcelona to Galveston departing Oct. 28, 2011.

These European cruises will be going fast on this brand new ship – so if you’re looking for Europe, you’ll need to do it now.

If Europe isn’t your thing; Carnival has 19 ports they sail out of and 23 ships that are currently sailing this year. (The most in the industry.)

If you want to warm up and get yourself out of the winter blues – this is just the ticket.

Join us tomorrow night for this Winter Warm-up Sail-A-Thon and book what we consider is the best vacation money can buy!

YTB = Your Travel Blueprint

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

Digg me

Two weeks ago, YTB Travel Network launched a  weekly webcast available from within its travel portal. What they created was travel training news show all about travel for travel agents.

Imagine that – a program about travel. It’s called “Your Travel Blueprint” and is YTB Travel Network’s very own news show created by our Travel Department for our RTA’s and Travel Agents.

If you’re familiar with ZamNuuz – you already know the type of format we’re talking about. Your Travel Blueprint however, is produced, designed, and segmented for travel tips, tricks, and valuable insight on how to build and grow your “travel business”.

Each week, beginning Thursday at 5:00 pm Central, 6:00 pm Eastern a brand new weekly program will be aired from the travel portal for our valued RTA’s and Travel Agents. The weekly program will then loop continuously throughout the week, giving YTB agents the opportunity to catch the show at their convenience all week long.

If you’re serious about building anything you need a blueprint – a plan. Your Travel Blueprint will bring content, vendor profiles, along with tips and tricks in a fun and easy way to give agents the tools they need to build a viable and profitable travel business.

You can catch the current episode of Your Travel Blueprint right now by logging into the YTB Travel Portal and clicking the logo to watch the show. A new show will air beginning at 5:00 pm Central, 6:00 pm Eastern tonight.

No more excuses – If you want to find out what’s going on with YTB Travel – this would be the place.

Your Travel Blueprint will not replace the YTB Travel Compass, the vast amount of content found in your back office in the media center, nor will it replace the weekly vendor webinars, FAM’s and Seminars @ Sea offered in the Travel Industry. Nor do we believe that [yet another] source of travel related information provided by YTB Travel is overkill.

YTB Travel Network always has – and always will be about “travel”. I know there are a few remaining stragglers who still can’t comprehend the distinction after all these years. (Giving credence to the quote “you can’t fix stupid”.) Truth is, YTB Travel Network took advantage of the huge paradigm shift from Brick and Mortar to Click and Order at the turn of the Century. Today, four of the top ten travel agencies are internet booking engines booking nearly $50 billion annually. It should also be noted that Expedia is now king of the hill, knocking off American Express and Carlson Wagonlit from a decade long hold at number one and number two.

As the travel industry continues to evolve and change – YTB Travel Network isn’t going to sit back on it’s heals and relish in our accolades or success – finding our own company in the middle of Travel Weekly’s Power Rankings. Always new. Always innovative. Always leading the way in how travel is sold and consumed that’s relevant to today’s changing market.

If you’re serious about selling travel and building your travel business – YTB Travel Network would be the ONLY place to offer this type of training and information on a weekly basis. (AND IT’S FREE!)

Folks, no other Host Agency does this – no other agency provides so many sources of training and information for its members. It’s why we believe YTB Travel Network is the best “host agency” out there – all you have to do is apply the information that’s presented in a format that’s best suited to you.

So go check it out now – and keep up to date with all the latest industry information and upgrades that will be coming your way with YTB Travel Network.

Passport To Giving…

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Digg me

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “it’s better to give, than receive”.

I have to admit – it feels really good to give, especially when it helps someone who really needs it.

The very first training class I ever took with YTB was then a brand spanking new program call “YTB Associations“. (I took the class even before my RTA Certification a few weeks later.) YTB Associations has since changed it’s name to “Passport To Giving”.

The point of the program has always been to offer non-profit organization an opportunity to sell travel and make the commission. Members of the organization would receive something of value (like a vacation) and by booking it with their favorite charity, the non-profit would generate a new stream of revenue.

The new plan was frankly a breath of fresh air for most organizations. Far more attractive than selling popcorn, coupon books or a not so fond memory from my childhood “hoagies” or pancake breakfasts. (And if you don’t know what a hoagie is – it’s Pittsburgheze for “submarine sandwich.”)

It’s nice to see this program still being used and offering a viable solution for non-profits across the country. A “Google Alert” came in over the weekend from Loveland, Colorado with a small blurb about our program and how it’s helped Adoption Dreams Come True.

YTB Travel has donated $3,500 to the agency Adoption Dreams Come True. Proceeds came through a European river cruise organized by Cinda Lopez and Carma Hilliard. More fundraising trips are planned in 2011. On the Web: www.adoptiondreams.org.

Imagine that. Members took a European river cruise – which I know is one of the most spectacular ways to experience Europe, and the commission earned from the trip helps support a cause that’s near and dear to their heart.

I personally sponsor someone in my organization who focuses exclusively on this product. He’s been doing it for years and I commend him for his desire to help and his patience with these non-profits.

It’s a completely different breed of animal – with more hands and votes to overcome and pass than anything else I can think of. It’s nice that everyone has a say in the matter, but it can be a very long and drawn out process without much movement for months at a time. John, (my personally sponsored person) has been extremely patient and never let go of his dreams and desire to help others.

His largest account, which I’ve helped design and host the site for is the American Legion Auxiliary. The amount of money and time he’s spent on his own to get this non-profit off the ground is a testimony of what it takes to help others. Working non-stop, and taking countless hours to create a program that’s tailored to that organization.

Personally, I couldn’t be prouder of anyone in my organization for his dedication and time spent helping others.

That’s the kind of people I love to surround myself with. Visionaries and people who get things done – no matter how long it takes and how hard you have to work.

It makes everything I do, my association and promotion of this company and it’s people worth every penny I’ve spent – and every minute I’ve dedicated to writing about it over the years.

It captures the true essence of giving and what it’s truly like to change lives.

YTB International Reports 15% Increase

Friday, September 10th, 2010
20
Digg me

You had to have known this day was coming. Actually, in my opinion – it’s been long overdue. Sooner or later, people were going to figure out who’s right – and who’s been blowin’ a bunch of smoke up everyone’s skirt. (“Skirt” isn’t my first descriptive choice – but you get the idea.)

The longer this charade of ridiculous Internet bantering and meritless lawsuits about YTB being some sort of “pyramid scheme” or “scam” went on while YTB continued its operations – it was inevitable that things would start to turn around.

Zealots can only cry wolf for so long.

In a press release sent out late yesterday afternoon (that flooded my in-box with no less than a dozen “Google Alerts” from various sources) YTB International reported a 15% increase in the number of active Business/Store Owners in the month of August.

YTB is back on the upswing.

The increase follows the Company’s National Convention held in St. Louis, in late August, which provided a number of announcements and new initiatives.

This year’s Convention marked the two year anniversary of a what I’ve always considered a lame stunt by California’s Attorney General – who filed a $25 million lawsuit the day before the 2008 Convention proclaiming he would end the companies “gigantic pyramid scheme”.

I really can’t blame people for falling for the A.G. or the unfounded claims. After all, simple perception would indicate that an Attorney General would have some understanding of the law. After reading the suit however, it became evident that Jerry Brown wasn’t any smarter than the common critic hiding behind a keyboard and screen name who banters away on forums or blogs bashing MLM proclaiming everybody is “paying for the opportunity to recruit others.”

To add insult to injury over how ridiculous this whole thing went down – the $25 million was settled out of court for a mere $1 million. Even more amazing – the A.G. who claimed the suit was filed to “protect consumers” – a measly $125,000 ended up going to consumers with the remaining $875,000 going to the State for the trouble.

Things that make you go “hmmmmm”.

We also can’t forget the “Class Clowns” who simply can’t take no for an answer. You know – the Class Action with nine lives? That redundant joke has been beaten and bloodied to death by the Court system so many times, I’ve lost count. Typical of the anti-MLM crowd who can never actually learn from others who are much smarter (or even more powerful than they) – just keep doing and saying the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

These people don’t need a Lawyer – what they need is straitjacket. (They truly are insane.)

Such is the life of “stoo-pid” critics who can never seem to read properly or learn anything new to ease their suffering and phobias. If you could ever catch one of them hiding out behind a screen name and keyboard they’d have the letters F.E.A.R. lambasted on their forehead.

And if you don’t know what FEAR means – it stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. These dumb clucks will fall for just about anything as long as it sounds negative.

I haven’t bothered to check into any of the bantering since Convention. While I’m not sure how anyone could argue with “Free” I’m sure there have been some pretty good stabs at creating drama – simply because they need that kind of fix to make themselves feel normal. Separate the word “dis – ease” and you’ve got a pretty good understanding of how these people tick.

The last time I checked in with the “chicken coop” they were in some tizzy about Coach, Scott, and Kim pumping up the stock before Convention. Oddly enough, no Form 4 was ever produced showing any of the three purchasing or selling a single share. The only documentation filed with the SEC pointing to any of the three also happened yesterday when Kim Sorensen transferred 4 million shares to a Limited Family Partnership for estate planning purposes.

Just another example in the mile long list of myths and rumors that have once again been sqashed with actual documentation – exposing how desperate and dumb zealots can be.

Can’t say that YTB is out of the woods just yet, even with this increase in Business Owners. It’s only one month – and we’ll need to string together a number of months before the heat really gets uncomfortable for the “chickens” peaking over the other side of the fence.

If you happen to spot them, just smile and wave. Then go out and find somebody who’s brighter and smarter than they are and willing to learn.

Not that hard to do considering. Just keep moving forward.

A Request To Help

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Digg me

One of the many positive aspects about being a part of YTB is the generous heart’s I’ve seen from the field and our Founders. It’s my firm belief that the more you give – the more you will receive. While the idea of giving (in the form of tithing 10%) was something that was instilled in me growing up – the concept of service and giving has broadened since I started my journey with YTB.

I might dive into the topic of “giving” more on Thursday – but in the meantime I wanted to get the word out about a program that both YTB and we have given to over the last couple of years.

The following came from our YTB Travel Network President:

From the Desk of J. Kim Sorensen

I am reaching out to you with a special request. You may already know YTB Travel Network supports a charity group called Flags4Vets. F4V is a not-for-profit organization that hosts flag ceremonies in different areas all over the United States. Once they have completed a flag ceremony, they place those flags on the graves of U.S. Veterans in that area. We are teaming up with them and sponsoring two events a year, one on Memorial Day and one on Veterans Day.

We are asking for your help. We are in need of volunteers to help with a fund raising program. We need what we call “Geographical Location Coordinators.”  YTB Travel Network has taken on a large project by choosing to support and back a charity that’s near to our hearts. This is an organization that helps us to remember and recognize our fallen heroes like U.S. veterans, law enforcement officers and firefighters by holding fundraisers at local venues such as Wal-Mart, local grocery stores, churches and many others.

If you or someone you know are interested in volunteering or you just want more information please email Kari Stone at kstone (at) ytbtravel (dot) com

The website is: www.flags4vets.com — check them out and thank you all again, have a great week!

Kim

Please do what you can for this organization and our veterans. Without them, we might not have the freedom and the choice of working in MLM that we enjoy today.

YTB Restructures Founder/Executive Compensation

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010
47
Digg me

Do you remember the outrage a year and a half ago when the CEOs of Ford, Chrysler, and GM flew to Washington, D.C. in private jets to ask for $25 billion in taxpayer money to avoid bankruptcy? Not that selling off private jets would have covered the $25 billion these guys were asking for – but it would have been a nice start.

It’s unfortunate that we see this kind of arrogance and greed in the Corporate world. Millions of people were laid off from thousands of companies while big wigs like these CEO’s live in the lap of luxury. You saw very little about any CEO taking a pay cut during the turmoil this country went through during the latter part of 2008 and 2009. Instead, they cut out the jobs of average American’s while keeping their pay and perks intact.

Most CEO’s have a lucrative bonus plan in place – including the Founders of YTB. The difference between our Founders and the CEO’s of other companies is that Coach, Scott, and Kim’s bonus is based in part on the performance of the company. Some based on pay or salary, while another chunk is based on stock options. Unlike other CEO’s or companies (like the Big Three in Detroit) our three founders forfeited 355,000 shares in options each of the last two years because the company didn’t meet the performance goals they wrote down to achieve that would trigger each bonus.

In case your wondering – that’s called accountability.

While there were some riffs about the forfeiture of options from critics, I would have loved to see the outrage over actual shares being awarded. It’s one of those “damned if you do – damned if you don’t” scenarios we enjoy from Zealots who flip flop depending on how it furthers their own agenda.

Regardless of which side of the fence you sit on, the fact is our Founders aren’t the type who take big pay days when the company isn’t performing as promised. The buck stops with them so to speak – which goes back to their AL Williams days as “Reps”. (Not to mention its just good business.)

To further illustrate our Founders desire to create a healthy, viable company they’ve restructured their compensation based on overall performance rather than acting like the fat and happy Executives we see in traditional corporate models. The company announced the new pay structure in a press release on Tuesday:

In order to ensure the Company continues its best practices related to executive compensation, YTB is transitioning to a performance-based incentive compensation program. Effective for the 2010 fiscal year, certain Company executives are entitled to incentive compensation if the Company achieves growth in the number of Business Owners at fiscal year end compared to the beginning of the fiscal year; if the Company meets or exceeds certain financial objectives established at the beginning of the fiscal year; or if the executives meet or exceed certain personal or departmental financial and budgetary objectives established at the beginning of each fiscal year.

Nothing like taking personal responsibility and holding yourself accountable for the overall health of your company now is there? If our Founders and Executives don’t perform to acceptable standards – they’re not paid that handsome bonus other CEO’s are paid. Instead they created an incentive to meet or exceed goals which could compensate them above and beyond their previous pay structure.

Because YTB is a public company obviously all this was filed with the SEC and you can find details of the new compensation package along with a breakdown of objectives that are now required from the Executive Team. Compensation now rides on and includes the growth of business owners (or IBC’s), cash flow and available cash on hand, bottom line earnings reported to stock holders, and other discretionary objectives for each department.

Based on the Press Release that was issued – and the terms of the new compensation that were filed with the SEC – simple logic would have you conclude that the Founders and Executives are at the very least willing to do their part for the overall health of the company.

That being said – not everyone who read the filing was able to comprehend or discern what went down. In a very comical and incredibly bizarre “Google Alert” – some jack ass laid claim that our Founders could be getting ready to resign after landing a sweetheart deal.

I’m not kidding – our self-proclaimed “YTB Expert” thinks you can quit (or resign) AND collect severance to boot. His focus – a two year deal that’s structured under the old compensation package that he claims will enable Coach, Scott and Kim to ride off into the sunset. While they haven’t resigned (yet) according to this dolt – we all need to be cautious of this severance stipulation.

Typical.

For the record, the clause he didn’t “copy and paste” on his blog stated otherwise:

Accordingly, a beneficiary under no circumstances would receive any payment under the Program if he left YTB without good reason or was terminated for cause.

It’s not that a clause like this is really necessary. Can you imagine walking into the Boss’s office sitting yourself down and stating “I’d like to resign – what kind of severance can you offer me?”

You’d either be thrown out and most likely fired “with cause” (for being stupid) or suffer the brunt of company jokes for years to come. (Again – for being stupid.)

You might be wondering if this idiot wrote this out of desperation or due to sheer stupidity. While I’m certainly not a mind reader and I hate having words put in my mouth (like he does with me) I’m pretty certain that this zealot thinks we’re the suckers due to the growing number of YTB’ers (including myself) that make it into his “Dumbass Den”.

In his own arrogant and self-righteous way, our lack of intelligence can’t possibly uncover the obvious error because those in MLM aren’t smart enough. We’re beneath the almighty professionals who pick – poke – and pry at anything and everything our company does.

On the other hand: If you think Coach, Scott and Kim have even the slimmest chance of quitting and having the Board of Directors approve a single dime of the two year severance package that was written – you DO belong in a “Dumbass Den”.

Likewise, for those who are reading up on the internet about ZamZuu or YTB at this time – go back to Tuesday’s article and the statement that John is helping us weed out those that aren’t intelligent or responsible enough to uncover fact or truth. Seriously – If a big old red flag doesn’t come up warning you that nobody gets a severance package when they resign – how could they even be considered a viable prospect?

See my point?

Are his statements ridiculous, absurd, bizarre? Sure they are – that’s what we’ve all come to know, but not quite love about John. But trust me, there’s no way you’re going to convince an arrogant pompous ass like John Frenaye that he’s wrong. His ego is just too big and overpowering to allow anyone to knock any logic or sense in that brain of his. (That – or there’s just not enough room down there.)

At this point, the best you can do is smirk (or laugh out loud like I did) and be thankful and grateful that you’re not as desperate (or stupid) – nor are you likely to run into anyone who is because John’s pretty much got a lock on weeding out any bottom feeders for us.

Instead, turn it around and be thankful. If for nothing else – for ability to read and comprehend the English language.

Then you can move on and be thankful that our Founders are willing to do what it takes to provide a viable, profitable, and respectable business opportunity for those of us who see things for what they really are.
