A Tribute to Good Friend, Andy Cauthen…

Digg me

One of the best aspects about being part of YTB are the friendships I’ve been able to form over the years. I’ve never been with a company with more quality leadership than with YTB.

One of those at the very top of my list is Andy Cauthen.

In my humble opinion, Andy missed his true calling. He should have been a comedian. He’s one of the funniest, most witty men I’ve ever met. I once asked him why he never pursued comedy as a carrier. He responded that he has a severe phobia about being in front of people, and his parents demanded that he get a “real job”. I can promise you, if he did pursue comedy, he’d be one of the highest paid comedians to date. Through our years of phone conversations and e-mail correspondence there have been far too many rolling on the floor laughing moments to mention.

Our witty exchanges over the years made our correspondence not only memorable but incredibly entertaining and I can’t think of another person I enjoyed communicated with more than Andy.

Andy’s other key attribute is his attention to detail. I’ve never seen anyone who’s more organized. He’s constantly taking notes and if he doesn’t have the information himself, he knows exactly where to access it. Up until this past year, YTB’s conventions were directed and organized exclusively by Andy. Coordinating something like YTB’s conventions requires a very special dedication and skill. He was perfectly suited with those traits and it wasn’t until last year’s Convention that Andy found someone “worthy” of being charged with its undertaking.

Most importantly for me however, Andy is a trusted friend. Because of our friendship, I’ve been privileged to gain insight on our company that not many people have. You see, like so many of you, Andy (as well as others at the Home Office) is a fan of this blog and our newsletter. Hundreds of new subscribers came into our database due to Andy’s recommendation, and because of his blessing, I’ve been able to gain insight from key people to ensure both timeliness and accuracy when writing about our company.

That’s why this article is bitter sweet for me. For reasons I’m not going to go into completely, I knew yesterday was inevitable. Andy is very much like our Directors in the sense that he had been flooded with offers and courted by other companies. Someone like Andy (or our Directors) is a HUGE feather in the cap of another company. They’re proven Leaders who get incredible offers from all sorts of companies. A longtime friend finally had an offer that he couldn’t pass up. It not only returns him to his home State, but it moves him closer to his family and his mother and father who are getting up there. I admire and respect that his family was a big part of his decision.

While our company has lost a great Leader, I couldn’t be happier for Andy personally. It’s a quality move for both him and his wonderful wife who’ve I’ve also come to know through the years. During both a private conversation with Andy, and during a company call yesterday afternoon there’s an inner peace I can feel in Andy that this is the right move for him and Kathy.

But don’t take my word for it. You’ll be able to see and judge for yourself on this week’s Saturday Morning Leadership Show.

One of Andy’s other attributes is honesty. I can’t think of a better way to get the truth than being able to see and hear Andy speak about his decision and this move from him personally.  From what I hear, Andy taped a very powerful and emotional show done yesterday afternoon with Scott Tomer. Andy is extremely concerned about how this move will be misconstrued and manipulated by those who get their panties bunched up over anything YTB does. Andy asked, and to Scott’s credit, he was granted an opportunity to speak with those he cares most about (the YTB field) so we have a true understanding about his choice and decision – not some emotional bantering that creates questions and uncertainty that I’m certain you’ll find elsewhere on the internet.

Andy’s well aware of the drama created by those who can’t seem to find anything better to do with their time. He also knows how skilled critics are at manipulating, misleading and twisting anything YTB does way out of proportion. Because both Andy and I have come to enjoy how easily distracted these critics can get, consuming their own valuable time, the decision was made to make this video a private communication between our Executives and the field. The only ones who matter or are worthy of getting any type of real answer.

So to the critics, yes, we know it’s probably going to annoy and upset you that your “demands” for answers won’t be heard or answered. All you’ll get is some Press Release to gnaw on that really won’t say much other than we’re sad to see Andy go, but wish him well in his future endeavors. Frankly – that’s about all you arrogant bunch of babies deserve. (Although, most have gained unethical and unauthorized access to just about every aspect of YTB to feed their uncontrolled obsession.)

To the YTB and ZamZuu field. You’ll have a chance to hear from Andy directly, and you have earned the respect of our former President and COO who admires and respects you. Log into you back office for a link to Andy’s message in the next day or two. You’ll hear directly from him concerning his decision. You can’t ask for much better than that.

In closing, I’d like to leave you with one of my favorite pieces Andy has ever done. He absolutely hates this video and claims it’s his goofy twin “Randy”. For me, it highlights a spirit that I think most of us forget all too often. One, enjoy what you do. There is nothing like turning your passion into a profession to make you happy. And two, don’t take yourself too seriously. If you can’t poke fun at yourself every once in a while, you’re not all the confident about who you are and what you do.

And Andy, like it or not, this is how I’ll always remember your tenure with us at YTB. ;-P

Love ya Buddy!

Digg me

That life is boring at YTB. ;-P

I apologize for not getting something out sooner – the kids had early release the last two days and we had projects planned. I also have a business to run and don’t have the vast amount of time in my profession that others apparently have. I have however been trying to sort out fact from fiction from various sources I know and trust via phone since the latest episode of “Days of YTB” has hit cyberspace.

Before we get started…I think it’s appropriate for the proper background music due the nature of what’s happened this week. For your listening pleasure, I’ve resurrected an oldie but goody that I’ve used before when there’s so much talk about YTB.

Apparently there was a mass exodus of wackos over the last 36 hours that have put out some pretty outrageous stuff. As usual, those of us who have a firm grasp on the situation are left to clean up the mess. Due to time restraints, I need to warn everyone that I have not read – but merely heard some of the rumors I’m about to squash. Therefore, please understand that some of what I might comment on – may not have ever been written in the vast space we call the internet – nor can I reference just who said it.

The following is a list of what I have heard and what I know to be true.

YTB’s CFO, John Clagg has resigned effective February 2nd. I’ve heard of various scenarios on how this came about. Some reasonable and some outlandish. The reasonable would consist of being burned out. With what the company has gone through since the California Law Suit was filed the day before the 2008 National Convention, and a new CEO who has a keen eye on the companies bottom line – it’s understandable that it would drain anyone.

Another reason I’ve heard is that John saw the writing on the wall – meaning, YTB isn’t going to make it.

Please…

One, the company has secured a $650,000 loan based on the expectant sale of the former home office located at One Country Club Drive. Which is odd – because it’s been widely publicized for years on various boards and blogs that YTB doesn’t have any assets to speak of. (Who knew?)

Two, it was announced on a company call yesterday, and corresponding documentation will be available to the field of some 300 $1000 Quick Start Bonuses will be in mailboxes across the country today. The ZamZuu e-commerce platform announced at the Coach’s Birthday Bash in early January has provided a much needed stimulus package for the field. When the field is making money, the company is making money. The enhanced commission structure enables the average person to attain a bonus, and that builds momentum.

You certainly don’t need to be a CPA to understand that cash flow isn’t the current problem at this point in time. (Still tight, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.)

An interesting observation from some time ago – I remember the exiting CFO being chastised by critics as “unqualified” for the position. It’s rather convenient that the ridicule and lack of qualifications are quickly tossed aside now that John has decided resign. I just love how folks can play both sides of the fence when a new position appears to benefit them. Happens with Directors too. All of the sudden these liars, scammers, and cheaters suddenly turn into Saints simply by leaving the company for another.

It would make any John Kerry supporter proud.

While there is a rumor of massive trading from our Directors due to this news, I’d hardly consider 29,300 shares massive. While John did resign on February 2nd, it was well after the closing bell on Tuesday. (3:00 Central time) I’ve never really understood just why this type of rumor persists with our Directors. I just chalk it up to ignorance and a way for critics to create more drama. Day traders have a ton more fun with this stock than any Director. Due to the timing of our CFO’s resignation and how suddenly (although not surprising) the resignation developed – nobody had any chance to benefit one way or another from this news. Based on the volume, between the verbal resignation and the release of the 8K – the numbers certainly don’t indicate insider knowledge.

Current CEO Robert Van Patten will fill in as interim CFO of the company until a replacement can be acquired. Mr. Van Patten is well equipped to fulfill the roll as CFO for YTB International, and has been in charge of much larger corporations in the past. His leadership is the largest reason why YTB has been able to acquire – all be it small – profits the last two quarters even with revenue down in 2009.

Another rumor floating around is that Ron Head, YTB’s Master Distributor has been terminated. While this may be the case after a thorough investigation – at present any word of termination is premature. Ron has I’m sorry to say been suspended due to possible cross recruiting.

If I’m getting e-mails and calls from every Tom, Dick, and Harry about the next “Big Thing” I can’t even begin to imagine what kind of carrots our Directors are seeing. How much greener the pastures are – how well everyone BUT YTB is doing in this economy – or all those “special positions” reserved for “true leaders” in the industry. I’ve seen and heard some real WHOPPERS in regards to rumors about what’s going on with YTB – including one I’ll mention later – that aren’t created by critics of MLM – but other MLM companies to lure people over to their company.

Attaining a Circle of Champion Director from YTB is a HUGE feather in the cap of any company because – as we all know – YTB created massive amounts of income for those who went to work. So much so, it caught everyone’s attention. Especially in an industry that understands and wants “recruiters”.

A personal note here – and this has nothing to do with Ron or any specific Director who has since left YTB for “greener pastures”. I have yet to hear of see any of YTB’s former Directors leave and actually stay with the next best thing they left YTB for. Several Directors that I know of have been with several different companies since leaving YTB and I can’t think of one (NOT ONE) who is currently better off today than they were the day they left YTB. Nor, with the exception of Corr, who just launched his new venture this week, is currently with the same company they moved on to.

That’s not to say they won’t be able to find another home. For some, I sincerely hope they do. It should be noted however that all of the fanfare up to this point has been nothing more than a passing fancy for every single Director who has left YTB for the next big thing.

Another very curious rumor floating around was that Coach, Scott and Kim were forming another MLM. Honestly, I just can’t wrap my head around this one. Critics, I could understand – they’ve always thought that our Founders would eventually call it quits. Some speculated retirement on some remote island with all our $50 checks in tow – while others speculated another industry entirely to rape and pillage. I’d expect that kind of stupidity from them.

It appears that rumor has also been squashed as Coach has been appointed the newest Master Distributor of…

Wait for it…

YTB.

Sigh…Coach will be recruiting again and honestly, it’s what he does best. I realize that frustrates some, and I know the fears and phobias surrounding the word “recruiter”. People slap that word on me all the time – and truth be told – yes, I do recruit. I recruit for Carnival, Princess, Sandals, Collette, Delta, Air Tran, Holiday Inn, Avis, Sears, Home Depot, Best Buy, and YTB. (Among others, but you get the idea.) We all recruit in some form or fashion and I fail to see what the concern or deal is when it comes to word “recruit”.

I can only hope that at some point in time they come come to grips with their “issues”. But don’t expect me to own that type of stupidity and fear just because it makes someone angry or bitter. The heightened outbursts and emotions I see reflects more about them, then it ever will me.

In closing, for those of you in YTB for reasons only you have a right to decide and place judgment on – don’t lose your focus or the sight of your dreams. Many of you got into YTB to sell travel and/or e-commerce. Others have found a new spark in the e-commerce platform that has triggered bringing people into a very promising opportunity that like travel a couple years ago was attractive to the masses.

If you’re like me, you see all the deposits waiting to turn into cash when these vacations are consumed this summer. Like the company, you need to think long term and tighten up to stay in the game in order to capitalize on the deposits your sitting on. Others saw checks in the form of cash back this week for doing what you already do – shop. More of the same is coming on the 11th when the residuals for being a business owner are sent out not only for your own shopping but all those who shopped on your sites.

By the way you realize they too got cash back checks this week from their own shopping experience with ZamZuu right?

Call them up…ask them if they think this works.

I got to tell you, it’s a much better alternative than searching the internet right now, trying to get a feel from a bunch of cowards who don’t have the guts to put a real name behind what they plaster all over the internet or talk about on the phone.

Because I had another post scheduled for today, it’s been bumped to Monday. I think you’ll like it and it drives home why ZamZuu is right on mark and why big name companies are going to a model just like ours to sell their product or service. You don’t want to miss it!

Hope to see you again on Sunday in your e-mail box with this week’s wrap up and the Just Picture It Now Newsletter.

Until we get back around the way…

Digg me

By the time you read this, our family will be in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. I’ve come equiped with my  “What part of NO do you not understand?” T-shirt which I purchased the last time we were in port here. (For those of you who have been here, you know why we need a shirt like this.) We’ll spend a relaxing day at Bamboo Beach Club since the kids wanted some beach time. (And still too young for Dunn’s River Falls)

Tomorrow is a big day in Grand Cayman. We’ll do a couple of excursions including swashbuckling on a Cayman Pirate Adventure in the morning and then spend the afternoon at Dolphin Discovery and the Cayman Turtle Farm.

Later that evening, we will dine and celebrate my daughters 8th (going on 18) birthday aboard Carnival Destiny.

This particular ship has been the top pick for a number of our clients since it was refurbished and started sailing it’s 4 and 5 day itineraries to the Caribbean from Miami. When Ronda and I were awarded Team MVP by our Directors at Convention and given a Carnival Gift Certificate as a way to say thanks for all we do, I pretty much immediately knew when and were we wanted to go.

Of course, you can’t have a proper birthday party without family involved. So we invited extended family to come along for the party on the World’s Most Popular Cruise Line. (They know a really good Travel Agent who got them one heck of a deal.)

So while you enjoy RPM and Red Carpet Day, we’ll be stuck down here in the Caribbean – thousands of miles away. (And lovin’ every minute of it.)

I’ll probably hit the internet cafe a time or two, but don’t be looking for any posts during the week. Like our newsletter that went out yesterday, this was written and scheduled last week before we left.

To keep you entertained – check out our favorite cruise tune this trip. I’m a classic rock and roller, but Michael Franti and Spearhead’s new tune “Say Hey (I love you)” gave me happy feet the first time I heard it. It’s got a create Caribbean beat and will certainly give you the itch.

So until I get back around the way – Enjoy!

shopYTB Grows to 700 Stores

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Digg me

I have to admit that shopYTB has not been a real high priority on my radar since it was introduced last January during Coach’s Birthday Bash. Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea and the concept – but my first love with YTB is travel. (It’s why I got into this business in the first place.)

Back then shopYTB was known as Aisle19 and as YTB often does, it looked at what we had and made it better. If you’ve been with YTB for any length of time, you’ve seen several website upgrades, product upgrades with new suppliers and travel vendors, and course upgrades such as First Class and RPM. That’s what YTB does. If there’s any question that YTB isn’t ground breaking or innovative, just take a look at Travel Weekly’s Power List and try to find another Travel MLM other than YTB since MLM’s first appeared on the scene in the mid 1990’s. (The vast majority of Travel MLM’s couldn’t even survive let alone appear on a list with other Brick and Mortar and Online Travel Companies.)

Back at the Convention, YTB renamed and re-wrapped the old Aisle19 and introduced shopYTB. By doing so, the company had better tracking and control of commissions and stores they wanted to do business with.

It didn’t take long for YTB to start adding new stores to this new package. Since Convention, not only has the IT Department been able to attach all the old stores from Aisle 19 under the shopYTB umbrella, but have added 100 new stores for a current total of 700 stores that offer the ease of shopping from home, and offer members cash back for doing so.

And the cost of signing up as a member? Not a single penny.

Yep, it’s still free to become a member of shopYTB.

I’ve heard YTB’s new Chairman of the Board state several times that one of the things he’s proudest of is that YTB doesn’t sell something like Carnival – something like Holiday Inn – or something like Avis Rental Cars – private branding it with some label and then selling it for 40% more for the “privilege” of purchasing it through some network of friends. It IS Carnival, Holiday Inn and Avis – all for a competitive price.

It’s the same for shopYTB -but better. It’s still the same store (or website if you will) but because you’ve entered through shopYTB instead of hitting the site directly you save money in the form of cash back.

Macy’s, Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Barnes and Noble, Lens Crafters, Old Navy, Sears…

You beginning to get the idea?

In addition, shopYTB is a good place to find those special deals, kind of like the Sunday paper, but every day. When I logged in this morning I found an offer from for 60% off Restaurant.com certificates on the front page. Barnes and Noble offers “The Deal of the Day” on books, music to movies. Another offer from Target includes free shipping with orders over $50.00. It’s a great place to start your shopping experience to save money.

The newest list of stores recently added include The Home Depot, eCampus.com, 123Inkjets, MacMall, Bass Pro Shops, Banana Republic, and InkPlusToner.com. (And we just bought a new exterior door for our back patio that I could have saved money on!)

I guess I’ve been purchasing online for so long now that the allure of shopping on the Internet has worn off. Been doing it for years. Now that I can get cash back for doing what I already do – there’s a new incentive and perk for this old dog.

If you like saving money and like deals (Who doesn’t?!) than you owe it to yourself to at least check out shopYTB as a legitimate way to save. It’s easy to use, connects directly with the online sites you already purchase with, provides immediate discounts and savings, and offers cash back when you do.

To me…it’s common sense.

Funshine 2009 opens for YTB

Digg me

Scott Tomer was in town a couple weeks ago and I had a chance to sit down with him in a small group setting the night before the Saturday training. One of the other members of the group asked the question “Why don’t we [YTB] hand out more travel awards at Convention?”

What Scott told us, was the idea of Travel Awards did come up for Friday’s afternoon General Session at this years Convention. If you recall, Friday afternoon unleashed the industries best commission contracts and benefits in the industry, the upgrades for “Steals and Deals” and the enhanced Great Escapes packages for both Travel Store owners, and clients. With Friday afternoon dedicated to Travel it just made sense to offer Travel Awards. However, when they called the travel leaders in our company to ask if they would be at Convention, every one of them said “Yes, I’ll be at Funshine.”

The “Convention” our travel leaders were talking about begins today at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center. Funshine provides two days of seminars and a trade show floor with some 60 or 70 suppliers who are soliciting their products and services for your clients next vacation.

Funshine will also hold a General Session tonight to hand out awards for our travel leaders who have produced significant travel sales. There will be other upgrades and announcements; one of which is a new “skin” with additional features which you can get a feel for from with our Golf site. (Sorry, couldn’t hold back on this one, but since it’s already live…what the heck.)

The trade show floor of course is free, and those of us who have completed the Marc Mancini’s E-Campus series of courses also receive a complimentary upgrade to all the seminars offered by our preferred suppliers. Other suppliers who I don’t have course descriptions for but will be at Funshine to educate TSO’s who want to learn include Epic Tours, The Mark Travel Corporation, Worldwide Golf Vacations, MSC Cruises, Cunard Lines, Worldwide Tours, Inc., and Carey International.

When you take a look at the list of seminars above and then compare it to the Home Based Agent Show and Conference in Atlantic City in a little more than a week, it’s shocking to see how a single company like YTB can attract a similar segment and number of suppliers for its conference. I’d also be willing to bet that YTB will provide a larger crowd for Funshine compared to the Home Based Agent Show designed for an entire segment of the industry.

It should be a fun weekend with our peers who have a legitimate desire to learn and grow in the travel industry from suppliers who see YTB for what it truly is – the 25th largest Seller of Travel in the industry

Swing an’ a Miss…

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Digg me

I have to admit, since the Convention, there really hasn’t been much in the way of news about YTB to report. The vast majority of what was released has been implemented and underway for the last month and half. We’re simply riding the wave of momentum coming out of the convention. Of course we have Funshine Travel Trade Show down in Orlando next week which will produce new upgrades and enhancements like we experienced at the Convention. In other words, don’t worry. We’ll be reporting the events at Funshine just like we did at Convention both here and in our Newsletter. (So if you’re involved in YTB, you’ll want to make sure you’re on our mailing list.)

classic-golf-swingLike last year and the Convention, Funshine was merely a pipe dream that would never happen according to the obnoxious and outspoken critics who were absolutely certain Coach, Scott, and Kim would be long gone at this point in time. The hope was they would be “pilfering” some other industry and the critics who detest our business model would be able to go back to “business as usual”.

Unfortunately, critics appear to be stuck in a quandary with the lack of news and have resorted to more lies and deceptive statements. The activity provides people like me an opportunity to show just how desperate and angry they’ve become since things aren’t working out they way they planned. They should be desperate. Most were absolutely certain that the California lawsuit filed just a day before the 2008 Convention would fulfill their desire of complete and total elimination of YTB. Unfortunately, not even Attorney Generals have the luxury of shutting someone down with false and misleading statements about “paying for the opportunity to recruit others into a gigantic pyramid scheme” without providing the proper proof and documentation to the courts.

Think “Amended Class Action” here. Much like that blunder, where critics made all kinds of outrageous claims, and followers waiting in the wings cheered how “powerful” it was, instead came out the other side battered and severely bruised for redundant, immaterial, impertinent, or scandalous claims. While the Judicial System’s desires in California were not quite as public (exposed on the internet) the process did demand that California and YTB work out their differences (in the case of the Attorney General – illusions) and come to an agreement. Like the class action that was filed in Illinois, California courts didn’t want their time wasted either.

In the end, California got what they wanted – $875,000 in their pockets. Critics got what they wanted – a press release with claims that YTB’s pyramid has been shut down. And YTB certainly got what it wanted – a blue print in the form of settlement agreement and the ability to continue doing business in the state of California.

Because the hopes and dreams of YTB being long gone is nothing more than a pipe dream at this point for our critics, when all else fails, you simply make things up to keep up appearances that something dastardly is afoot. Which of course leaves me a great opportunity to link and document the blunders. While some get angry and bitter over the false and misleading claims made against our company, I’d advise you to take some of the following list and put it in the proper perspective.

They really don’t have much else left to do.

So let’s begin.

Over on Scam.com, we find another “no name” who came up with the brilliant idea of posting a picture from Google Earth of the YTB home office parking lot in an attempt to show how few people are actually working there now.

Small problem…check out the date posted at the bottom of the picture. February 2004, two years before YTB even moved into the current home office location. (Ouch!)

Another critic decided to hang out on Coach’s Facebook page and magically turned “They are running a SPECIAL.” into “I’m running a SPECIAL.” (meaning Coach and YTB) promoting a 90% discount on Restaurants.com.

Apparently because Coach didn’t put and asterisk (*) next to the words “the promo code is “ninety” somehow that turns it into a false claim. I guess we learn something new every day huh? So remember the asterisk when sending someone to another store through shopYTB will ya! Otherwise any promotion or special that run from these 600 stores will firmly land on YTB’s head as false and misleading.

In another strange and bizarre twist, apparently people who double opt in to our “Steals and Deals” e-mail campaign have an issue with being offered free trips. How someone doesn’t understand that clicking the link to verify that “Yes, I want to subscribe” from the very e-mail account that requested it escapes some people blows my mind. But under the circumstances, it gives them something they can complain about. Besides, I can see how a free cruise would offend some people. (??)

Truth be told here, it was the best excuse this critic could come up with after taking bets that he would get a “recruiting pitch” for signing up for shopYTB. Here’s the quote from the day before.

John said…
Rod– send me the URL in an email and I will sign up. I want to see if I do get recruiting messages….anyone want to take bets?

If you’re wondering how shopYTB and YTB Marketing got thrown into the mix, it’s all a part of mixing everything together so they can report it to California as a violation of YTB’s settlement agreement. Not to worry however. YTB can provide a date/time stamp, and the IP address from the account that opted in from the initial request.

Also…how on earth do you lose and e-mail address from the day before so you can claim you can no longer contact the TSO with questions?

Very odd.

When you run out of things to complain about YTB, you can always fall back on the name calling and slandering of it’s members. That’s always a lot of fun and given enough time and energy you can go back months to find a single article on the Examiner so you can file an abuse report. Management and I however had a good laugh at this idiot for not checking the dates and trying to pin me with a plagiarized article.

Wonder if it’s okay with him if someone else copies my original work on the Mexico reopening on May 31st if they wait to the very next day?

Honestly, I find it amusing that some think I’m a deadbeat writer while others apparently like it enough to re post my work, and journalists quote that I’m “one of YTB’s most articulate defenders“.

And being the doting parents that critics are, with this illusion they need to keep me in line, they take our new YTB Success System launched at Convention and turn it into another claim that I’m doing something underhanded.

While they most certainly read about the announcements posted here regarding the new partnership with Pinnacle Systems unfortunately they got distracted with a Tina Turner appearance. Not only did they take exception to a missing “r” in the name, but of course had to ask why I felt the need to comment about her famous legs. Completely irrelevant to the upgrades and announcements I know, but when your a critic and need to find fault, that’s about all your left with. It also provides a great excuse as to why they can lay claim “I didn’t know”.

Through it all folks. Don’t think for a second that you or anyone else will be able to enlighten these poor lost souls who have nothing better to do than conjure up examples like these. I know it looks really bizarre, but they claim to be quit content in their activities and illusions. To correct and educate will not only prove futile, but the backlash of name calling and pestering would certainly tell you that they have absolutely no intent to change their thinking or perception – regardless how stupid it makes them look.

But it certainly makes for a great post and a good laugh when you add it all up.

Down To Earth…

Digg me

I like people I can relate to. Heck, who doesn’t? It’s hard even listen to someone who constantly talks down to you like they’re somehow better than you are. It’s my belief that people read this blog and subscribe to my newsletter because I’m an average guy. I can be very serious, but I also like to have fun. I’m also very thorough in documenting what’s written with third party sources to reference.

I’m also human. I’ve made my share of mistakes. When I fall short, I admit it, fix it, and move on.

I’ve written about my good friend Candi May several times here and over the last few years we’ve become great friends. When you have your own ringtone on my iPhone, you know we talk quite a bit. (Actually, I wish she’d call me more, case I love that ringtone!)

Candi is also one of those down to earth individuals you can relate to. There’s no arrogance, false fronts, or an ounce of bitterness in this person to make you think that she’s somehow attempting to con anyone. Yet, she, like me, Coach, Scott, Kim, and some of the other better known names who have the guts to show up on the internet as real people are scorned and ridiculed on a daily basis by a very small group, with this illusion that we’re out to deceive and mislead the general public.

After this years Convention, there was a bizarre twist from a “professional travel agent” with this this idea that Candi stood in front of the Convention crowd and deceived everyone that she learned how to “travel like a pro” while in YTB. The anger and scorn it generated was incredible, especially when you see the the actual video and what was really said at this years Convention.

Which ironically, we now have.

Now, if you can stomach it, go read the emotional outbursts from the “traditional side” of the fence, and then watch the demeanor of one of our own. Compare her speech with the tangled mess that was trumped up from the other side and then ask yourself…”who would I rather work with?”

There’s really no question in my mind who I’d enjoy working with more. (And also learn more from.) There’s also no question who’s desperate and who’s secure in who they are and what they do. Mind you, Candi has never had any desire to lash out in an attempt to defend who she is and what she’s accomplished. No need when you compare the two sides.

However, I’m going to step to the side here, and let you be the judge. Make your own choice on your own who you’d pick to be mentored by in this industry. Afterward, if you’d like to find out more about this incredible lady, you can read more about her on her new blog.

Makes no difference to me, cause I’ve already made mine.
