If You’re Gonna Be An Idiot…

Digg me

One of the things that I absolutely love about MLM is a genuine desire to learn and grow.

Since my introduction into this industry, I’ve been exposed to more author’s, speakers, and mentors than I can shake a stick at. Some, like Dale Carnegie, Brian Tracy, and Earl Nightingale were in my library long before MLM. Since my introduction into MLM however, I’ve been introduced to more great – wealthy – inspirational minds in the last six years than all my prior years combined.

A new book I was introduced to last week – provided a number of amazing revelations I wanted to share with you.

The author is Robert Shemin and he’s pictured here on the cover of his New York Times Best Seller “How Come THAT Idiot’s Rich and I’m Not?”

Just the title alone makes you want to read this thing. (It’s brilliant!) I don’t know about you, but I’ve known my fair share of “idiot’s” in my day. The vast majority are miserable and broke, and not actually happy and rich however. But I get the gist of what Shemin is trying to convey here, because there was a time when I looked at some rich people and thought, “What do they have that I don’t?”

What I found out, in other books and from speakers like Shemin was there was plenty I didn’t have in regards to mindset and attitude. It wasn’t until I got involved with MLM that I really began to study and eventually understand what it takes to be successful in business. Sure, I made plenty of mistakes. I also had my share of so called “failures”. Each mistake or failure turned into valuable learning experiences that changed my thinking and my actions. Washing away all the crap that cluttered my mind and kept me from taking the proper action to attain success. It took a number of years, but I eventually replaced enough beliefs and actions with powerful thoughts and valuable tools that I now own and operate a number of businesses that has me well on my way to the type of lifestyle and net worth I desire.

Shemin’s book is centered on real estate. That’s his area of expertise. But true to that vast majority of smart, successful business minds that I’ve read both from and about – most support and promote MLM as a viable business model to get involved with. (Especially as a model for getting started in business.) The level of support and tools found in MLM far exceed anything else I’ve seen in the business world.

Shemin’s no different – but with a very nice promotion of a very specific MLM and industry.

Now I know you all don’t have this book handy, and I’m not going to bombard you with what the entire book says. (Besides, it’s mostly about real estate and not MLM.) But there’s one page that I’d like to highlight, because it’s a real eye opener.

For anyone who wants to check out the page for themselves, you can on Google Books. (Here’s the link to the Page 101) I also wanted to use this link just so there’s no doubt about what was printed in this New York Times Best Seller.

Becoming a travel agent is simple. I signed up for something called Your Travel Business, or YTB, and presto! I became a travel agent. You can too. Just go to my special site, www.ytb.com/robertshemin, and sign up. Now you’re a Rich Idiot, too.

So book that trip and live rich now. By the way, I should tell you that when you sign up, I get benefits for introducing you. That makes me an even bigger Rich Idiot. But wait – you’ll get the same added goodies when you share your travel agent site with your friends and family. Remember, Rich Idiots want others to be rich, too!

Imagine that? Here’s someone who’s already rich – promoting YTB as a great way to get rich yourself. No special training involved – no requirements or classes. Just sign up and start telling your friends and family.

Now I know this kind of promotion drives the travel professional’s nuts. (Makes the hair on the back of their neck stand up with disgust and anger.) What these travel professionals have never really grasped is that travel isn’t rocket science. In fact it’s so simple that 4 of the Top 10 travel agencies today are do it yourself type agencies. (Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, and Priceline.) If the average person can book their own hotel, cruise, and airline ticket – there’s no reason why someone like you and I can’t sign up and point people to your own site.

Also note, there’s full disclosure here. Robert makes it very clear that he benefits from introducing his readers. Broke Idiot’s call that “profiting” – as if there’s something wrong with making a profit in business. For anyone who takes issue with Robert, me, or anyone else making a profit from introducing others about all I can respond with is – “Duh?!”

In other words, profits are a major component in owning and operating any successful business. Just because it has “MLM” attached to it – doesn’t make it any different. It’s business.

Moving on – and you’re going to love this.

At most resorts or hotels, there are better rooms and bigger rooms with more interesting views, concierge floors with special services, and even luxury suits. When checking in, simply ask if you could be upgraded. Here’s how I empower the staff. I say, “If anyone can make this happen, I know it’s you.” Then I offer them a gift (I often carry chocolates with me), not to bribe them but to brighten their day. You’ll be surprised how often a hotel will oblige. Presto! You’ve just become a Rich Idiot for the duration of your stay!

Now wait just a cotton picken’ minute here! You mean to tell me after all these years that all I really needed was a box of chocolates? What about the all-powerful and necessary IATAN that I’ve been whacked over the head with more times than I can count? Here – I’ve been soooo concerned because I’ve been told by so called industry “experts” that IATAN was the be all and end all for upgrades!

What a rip! ;-P

Truth is guys. I’ve really only used my CLIA once way back when for a trip to Sandenstin for a FAM. Other FAM’s and Seminars at Sea were offered via YTB without any such requirement. Likewise, I’ve never owned an IATAN because contrary to what’s been said about YTB and IATAN, there’s no possible way YTB could actually “sell” their IATAN to a third party. There’s only one way to attain that credential, and that’s earning it from IATAN directly with proof of $5000 in commissioned sales. By the time I was able to earn mine directly, they pulled the plug with this nonsense YTB was selling the card.

All these years, all I’ve really needed was a smile and the guts to simply ask for an upgrade. If it was available, I usually got one.

If not, here’s the next tip that I’ve also done.

Here’s one thing I do at least once a year. I put together a group of my friends for a trip or a cruise. This vacation strategy also works very well for school groups, churches, and civic groups. If enough people participate, the airline, the hotel, the resort, or the cruise ship will often give me my trip for free. Not only do I get a fantastic vacation, but I get to spend it with all my friends and I get it for free – just for having the idea and putting it together. By the way, Rich Idiots take a portion of the price of the ticket they would have paid for but didn’t and donate the money to a worthy cause.

Soon after my trip to Sandestin, Royal Caribbean launched Freedom of the Seas. I really wanted to get on this ship but there was just no way RCL was going to kick some full paying customer off this ship just to put me and my family on the ship for a fraction of the cost.

So I did what other Rich Idiot’s do and got a small group of eight of us together. Granted, the group was so small at the time that there wasn’t any “freebie” for us, but because everyone booked at full price, yours truly did earn over $1000 in commission to recoup some of the cost. In addition, when I got back I posted pictures and wrote a really nice review of our experience.

Note: no lime green t-shirts were required with “I got here free, ask me how”. No shenanigans about recruiting everyone on board. Instead, before RCL pulled their little stunt, several people saw our photos or review, and booked full fair cruises with us on BandBVacations.com earning somewhere in the neighborhood of $13 million in the first nine months of 2007.

And Royal Caribbean is demanding that we change our tune in order to have the “privilege” to sell a cruise with thier company? What the hell for?

Makes you wonder who the Idiot is don’t it?

It’s entirely up to you which “Idiot” you want to be. You can be rich – or you could really goofy and be broke. My experience with both (or at least attaining wealth and net worth) is it’s much easier and more fun being rich rather than broke.

Broke as we’ve seen time and time again, leaves you angry and miserable.

Being rich however, takes all those people who want to call you an idiot and makes it incredibly easy to just flick them off like flies. ;-P

Got My MoJo On…

Digg me

Sorry I haven’t been around much lately. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to write before now, but writing has taken a back seat to business the last few weeks. Business has been going much better than expected right out of the gate, although it’s consumed a lot of my time and energy. It was important to me to set new standards and procedures right away, which has been welcomed by everyone that has seen both the old and new version of this business and management team. The new look and feel of the business has really paid off in spades.

When I first wrote about this business, and how optimistic I was about this new venture I mentioned how YTB (or any MLM really) was the perfect proving ground to change ones habits and thinking from being an “employee” to “business owner”. So much of what I was introduced to when I joined YTB wasn’t actually developed for MLM, but for traditional business. It was only adapted into the MLM model because it was sound business.

The lessons learned and the habits created over the last six years with YTB have made this transition from MLM to traditional business a piece of cake.

Don’t misunderstand me. There’s a lot of hard work involved. When my head hits the pillow at night, I’m exhausted. I don’t have a set schedule (like some 9-5) and practically work all hours. That being said, there’s still a nice balance of work and family time. For example, when the kids come home from school in the afternoon, I still take breaks to get them snacks, ask how their day was, and work with them on homework. After they’re in bed, I’m cashing out the daily sales, placing orders, preparing the lineup for the next day’s events, and responding to customer and employee e-mails.

Some of the daily tasks might have been different with YTB, but the work ethic and drive was instilled in me over the years because of MLM.

I also remember a time when commissioned sales intimidated the hell out of me. I never thought I was very good at it. One of those limiting beliefs I had about myself that just never served me very well. Sales always equated to being pushy for some reason – and that’s never been something I’ve been comfortable with. It wasn’t until YTB that it became a sheer numbers game of just asking and collecting an answer. Then it began to click. Not everyone gets (or wants) what you have. While most spend time trying to convince the wrong person for all the wrong reasons, I simply offered up features, advantages and benefits and collected an answer.

As Jerome Hughes has always said – “Tell me “Yes” – Tell me “No” – but tell me quick, I gotta go.”

I also liked what Rick Ricketts has always said – “I get up every morning and look for people who are looking for me.”

This idea of trying to convince family and friends is probably the biggest load of bull I’ve ever heard about MLM. It’s not that you shouldn’t ask, but if they simply don’t want to – your time is much better spent looking and asking someone else who will say yes. It’s not that I, Jerome, or Rick are any better at recruiting than anybody else.

We just asked more people.

In addition, when you have the right mindset and attitude, the right circumstances and people fall right into place. Part of my responsibility with the new business is new business development. I’ve since recruited someone who will focus on that aspect of the business in the coming months, but it’s my responsibility to get that ball rolling. One of those new areas is an entire county that was always part of the territory but never worked. A large task for sure, that I really wasn’t looking forward to cultivating. (Especially when I’ve got so many other responsibilities that I’m trying to manage.)

While out pounding the pavement in another territory, I got a lead from one of my other customers. I come to find out that this new lead happens to be in the very county I’m responsible for cultivating. While traveling, I make an immediate call to the new lead to introduce myself. Turns out, this new lead not only wants what I have, but thinks others could benefit from our services as well. There’s a meeting with a small group of 30 or more coming up in September that this new lead would like me to come out and do a presentation for if I wanted to.

If I wanted to?

Are you kidding me? The chance to present my business and services to 30 plus who could not only use my services but benefit from it in one fell swoop? It was just the shot in the arm I needed to get this new county and territory off the ground – and a lot quicker and easier than I had ever imagined.

I have no idea is you believe in or even know about “The Law of Attraction”. Most, I would hope have at least heard about the movie “The Secret”. I’ve heard both pro and con from others concerning this idea about attracting what you want into your life. Those that are pro know like I do that this “law” is an actual “law”, just like the “Law of Gravity”. You really don’t need to understand it or even except it – but it IS a law all the same. It works whether you want it to or not. It works whether you understand it or not.

Some of my readers are Faith based and “The Law of Attraction” actually parallels faith and belief. It’s not that I don’t have faith in God or a higher power – but my logical mind grasps the scientific aspects that everything we see, feel, and experience is “energy”. Some consider it “new age” or a “gimmick” and that’s fine. Truth is, there’s nothing “new age” about it. The idea and concept has been around for thousands of years.

Having this one person show up in my business out of the blue when my energy and thought levels have been so extreme and positive just adds more proof to me that we are all connected by this energy.

That energy stems from the fact that I’ve attained practical – real world business experience through YTB and MLM. It’s gone past the point of just knowing what to do and how to do it. It’s become habit for me after all these years.

I’ve tried reading books, attended seminars, even tried starting a few businesses prior to YTB without much success. Little did I realize that YTB and MLM would provide the tools and the habits necessary to get my MoJo on and find true business success.

If your serious about changing your circumstances and creating your own future and success in business, you need to not only take a serious look at MLM, but take MLM seriously – not just some hobby. There’s a wealth of information – and a ton of successful, motivated individuals who are more than happy to share and help you along the way. Take it from someone who not only knows, but has experienced it.

It’s real – it’s true – it’s practical. More so than any college course, seminar, or some know it all who thinks he or she has all the answers.

Want Business MoJo? Find a good MLM.

That Nervous Twitch

Digg me

A couple weeks ago, I mentioned that ignorance and injustice has never been something I’ve tolerated very well. It’s not that I expect everyone to know everything – people make mistakes (including me) all the time. But – I do expect people to be capable of learning. These “mistakes” are the lessons learned that helped people like Edison invent the incandescent light bulb. I’ve heard that he “failed” anywhere from 1000 to 10,000 times before he figured it out. The actual number of times isn’t important – but the concept that you adjust and correct with each mistake made to end up with success is.

It’s that type of thinking and determination that has helped YTB return to the original name – better, stronger, and with more conviction I’ve seen in a long time.

I’ve had more subscription signups to our newsletter in the last few weeks than I think I’ve had all year. I also had to create a separate category in my Outlook for the private YTB Facebook pages and the notifications that are coming in. My inbox became flooded with YTB posts. (There’s some really useful information there, and it’s always needed a special folder.)

Not everyone appears to be on the same page in sharing the excitement and passion for success that we do. Make no mistake, they certainly see it – and they know exactly what it all means. Our passion and excitement unfortunately gives them a nervous twitch.

From the day it appeared on my blog, (which I can still recall) one guy has produced an entire comedy of errors, missteps, and mishaps. This self-proclaimed “expert” decided to make it his personal mission to pick a fight with me, you, or anyone else associated with YTB. John Frenaye got more than he bargained for when he came trolling onto this blog to pick on what he assumed was just another “lowly MLMer”.

Instead of cowering or avoiding, I responded to both him and his illusions. His perceptions of MLM and YTB simply don’t match my reality or experience. I did see John’s charade as a valuable lesson in exactly what not to do, and how not to think. His so called “problems” with MLM, gave insight into what to avoid. Although by doing this you couldn’t avoid his pessimistic rants, which helps tremendously.

Although John never mustered up enough courage or strength to sit down with YTB face to face to discuss his “issues” with the company and our model, his Internet persona and constant bullying in every nook and cranny associated with YTB did provide insight for not only myself, but YTB to look at the perceptions and adjust accordingly.

I have no idea how this whole thing has worked out for John, but I don’t think it’s been all that pleasant. Nobody likes to be made the fool like I’ve highlighted and documented here. Not that it’s been a bed of roses for me either. Personally, and for others who have gone through this battle with me in YTB however, it’s been a great experience and lessons learned because unlike John, and others like him, we actually know how to learn and adjust from the mistakes we all make.

It makes us stronger, more resilient, and better than ever before.

John on the other hand, just doesn’t make them. “Mistakes” I mean. He’s still just as stubborn and bull headed as ever. Sticking to his illusions that MLM and its people are inferior to him or anyone outside of the “cult” that hasn’t been drinking the Kool-Aid.

And that my friend is exactly why this personal crusade of his and this battle that’s waged inside his head has been going on for at least the last four years. He hasn’t learned a blessed thing.

You might be thinking to yourself, “If an old dog like TravelPro can learn a few new tricks, certainly someone like John can – couldn’t he?

Not exactly.

I’ve heard it said from more critics than just John, that cynics think we MLM’ers are so caught up in the cult and drunk on the Kool-aid that our identity becomes attached to it. Without a YTB or another MLM to hang on to, we’re lost without any meaning. Truthfully, I think that concept speaks more about themselves than it does about any of us.

See, the whole idea of MLM is to teach the average person how to change from an employee mentality to a business owner mentality. The heart of MLM, what makes it tick and beat, is ground floor access to a business that will teach anyone who is willing how to become a real true entrepreneur and business owner. The problem as I see it, isn’t actually the MLM business itself, but the actual person running the business.

I look at the traditional business I came under contract with a couple weeks ago. The territory was run into the ground, and the old manager is filing for bankruptcy. If it were MLM, critics would be yammering about how the model failed. Now that I’ve been working this new business a few weeks and have done a couple P & L’s – I can’t for that life of me figure out how he couldn’t make this work – other than the fact that he didn’t know how to control expenses, and honestly was just plain lazy.

In other words, the model and the territory are just fine – it’s the business owner who didn’t put the proper time and effort into it that landed him in bankruptcy.

Network Marketing is not different. There’s a reason why the word “work” is in there – it takes “work”. This idea that you pay money and just sit back and collect checks is the most absurd notion there is in the MLM industry. You’re paid based on activity and results. No activity equals no money. To put it another way, you get out of it what you actually put into it. How it’s perceived by some as any different than any other business is a big red flag that they actually don’t know anything about business or what it takes to succeed.

For critics and cowards like John or the folks in the Class Action who have an average of 6 months of business experience among them, it’s just easier – or rather more comfortable to point the finger at MLM. They never notice the three fingers pointing right back at them.

I know commissioned sales can be a real drag – even overwhelming. It used to create its own nervous twitch inside me way back when. You have no idea how lucky you are to have a company like YTB, a product like travel to sell, and a mentor like Coach, Scott and Kim to learn the ropes and overcome that fear. And, yes, you’re even lucky to have someone like John to show you exactly what not to do and how not to think as an added bonus.

Considering where I’ve been and where I am today, I wouldn’t trade any of it in. I feel nothing but confidence and success because I knew who was right and who was dead wrong.

You too can rid yourself from that nervous twitching when you know who and what to join up with.

Ain’t no doubt about it for me.

It was Y-T-B.

Time To Make The Doughnuts…

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

Digg me

It’s post-Convention, and the kids head back to school on Monday so it’s time to put the pedal to the metal and get to work.

Which means – most likely a little less time here on the blog.

To keep everyone up to speed on what’s going on – a fantastic opportunity landed right in my lap that’s already producing a decent six figure income that I believe can double if I put my internet, marketing and sales talents to good use. The territory opened up this summer, and after being introduced to the Southeast Regional Sales Manager and taking a look at the contract, the investment, the territory and the compensation – I’ve decided to take it over and run the 10 county area.

The investment into the business and the monthly overhead and expenses to run the business is obviously more than $50 per month with YTB. I also looked at the Independent Contractors who I will be responsible for paying and working with in the territory. Only one has any type of Network Marketing experience, but everyone involved appears to be true sales people who appreciate commissioned sales like MLM. After speaking with the team, everyone agrees there is money to be made and like our Founders at YTB – there’s no amount of money they can think of that I won’t be willing to pay them – if they actually go out and earn it.

Oddly enough – my experience with YTB over the last 6 years was a huge asset for the Regional who handed over the contract to the territory to me this week. My unique qualifications made me a perfect candidate to take over and run this territory to realize its full potential. It is after all the largest concentration of customers in the Southeast Region this National Company has.

Imagine that? An Executive who not only knows – but appreciates the MLM and Direct Sales model and the qualifications and work ethic it creates for strong business prospects.

Who knew?

Prior ownership and management of this territory blamed the poor economy for dwindling sales. After further review, it appears management itself was to blame for the poor performance. Looking deeper, we found little or no involvement from management in the field, a lack of marketing and prospecting, and poor financial management when sales fell which finally landed the former Territory Manager in bankruptcy.

Having the proper answers and tools available to me as I move into ownership of this same territory and client base these are comforting assets at my disposal while turning this territory around. Many of the same tools and marketing techniques I’ve used and learned over the years will be used in this business as well. I’ve hung around and learned from some of the best marketers in the world in YTB. While the new company already has a website, newsletter, and marketing materials – this territory will see cleaner, fresher, and more relevant information from me to build customer unity and loyalty. These tools are already in place at no additional expense (other than time) to assist in the rebuilding process.

Furthermore, I truly believe this company can learn a thing or two about how marketing is done in this modern age from yours truly. But we aren’t going to just tell them about it – we’re going to show them by actually doing. ;-P

That being said, this new venture and responsibility may bring up the question if I’m actually leaving YTB for this new company.

Let me try to answer that as delicately and succinctly as I possibly can:

What – A – CROCK!

Are you kidding me? I love this company and the people. It’s because of YTB that I have the money, the tools, and the self-confidence to get into this new business venture. On top of that, now that YTB is refocusing its efforts on travel once again – I happen to see a unique opportunity for a very large group cruise with this new customer base next summer that could produce another six figures in travel commissions to me from YTB. In the meantime, this new company will generate at least that much for me and my family over the next year.

Remember, opportunities never go away; they simply go to those who are ready for them. Like YTB all those years ago, it wasn’t cause I couldn’t afford to do it – I couldn’t afford not doing it. An opportunity and a territory of this size doesn’t come along every day, and since it landed right in front of me – the challenge and the income potential was just too enticing and lucrative to pass up.

I’ll still be around – and still promoting and reporting on YTB. Over the next few weeks however, I need to get my arms around this new business venture and get the proper responsibilities delegated to the proper people who now work with me. There’s more money and responsibility involved as we move into this business than we ever had with YTB. But isn’t that what personal development and growth is all about? Didn’t we join YTB to change our mindset from “employee” to “business owner” and help change our financial future in the process?

Some, both inside and those on the outside looking in, believe that YTB is the only answer in gaining financial independence. For some it may be, because it’s a very good opportunity and strong business model with multiple streams of income. Where people fall short however is this belief or accusation that it’s the “only way” to gain financial freedom. Real security and independence over the long haul comes from diversity. The YTB Founders do it, the Directors do it, and the smartest most successful business minds in history have done it.

Didn’t know that? Well, for starters, you might want to look up Henry Ford and his relationship with Kingsford Charcoal.

Thing is – nobody knows that because they’re all brainwashed to think like an employee.

Not me…I have my own mind, and my own business opportunities now thanks to what our Founders and the people in YTB gave to me. It may have been the first investment I made to create my financial future – but from my experience, including this latest development, it’s still the best.

Declare Your Independence

Thursday, July 7th, 2011
15
Digg me

Five years ago – I made a very important decision.

I declared my Independence.

I had no idea what laid ahead of me. I found that it wasn’t always a walk in the park. I’d also make my share of mistakes along the way.

But you know what? I wouldn’t trade a second of it because I’ve learned more about myself and business in the last five years than during my entire adult (working) life combined. I have a much better understanding of my strengths and weaknesses. I know what fires me up, and what bores me to tears. I’ve also expanded and grown farther than I’ve ever thought was possible before. My self-worth and self-confidence in what I’m truly capable of doing has awakened from its long overdue hibernation.

I dream like a little kid again.

It’s been a wild ride that’s far from being over. There’s still far more I want to be – do – and have.

When I made this declaration public, the support which opened up was incredible. Teachers, mentors, and friendships came out of nowhere to offer insight and leadership. People who actually cared – actually offered something worthwhile – actually wanted me to succeed.

That’s not to say that critics didn’t show up along the way. Those who tried to intimidate of shame me into submission – back to the old way of thinking. Fortunately, I’ve found that most critics are also cowards. The vast majority never revealed enough about themselves or provided any value to be any real significance. Always telling me what was wrong – never how to correct it or solve it.

Being independent requires being solutions oriented – not problem oriented.

This past weekend, Scott Tomer released a video on what Independence Day means to him and why we should all declare our own independence. I didn’t actually catch the video until after the July 4th holiday, but it struck a cord with me – and I agree with him one hundred percent.

I remembered the freedom that declaring my own independence meant to me five years ago. How liberating and strong it felt. How it gave me new life and renewed confidence in myself.

There’s one little caveat here that may help you put this declaration of independence into the proper perspective. Neither, Scott nor myself will tell you that making this declaration means that you walk into your bosses office tomorrow and quit. It took me a year and a half to feel comfortable and place myself in a position of telling my former employer I was out of there. What I did do however was work extra hard (much like a second full time job) to replace the income I was making during my “day job” doing what I really wanted to do.

See, your declaration is merely the beginning.

Think of it this way. Our Founding Father’s signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776 – but the declaration was only the beginning of the Revolutionary War. True independence from Great Brittan wasn’t achieved until 1783. Nor did the Colonies go at this alone. They had help from the French, Spain and the Dutch Republic.

Your own declaration will also take some time and some help from others to come to fruition. You may not know how or where it will come from – but you’ll never know until you make a declaration of your intentions – your own independence.

Then the answers and the help from others will come.

Sure, you’ll experience some defeats. You’ll also question yourself at times. You may even feel like giving up. True independence takes sacrifice and determination. A new way of thinking – doing – and being. But if you really, truly want it – it’s there for you.

Deep inside, you know you really want it. What’s stopping you? The truth is – nothing other than your own “stinkin’ thinkin”. What you don’t see now will be revealed to you. What you don’t have now will be given to you. But you have to first make the decision – a declaration to yourself and others that this is the direction you want to go.

I still make this declaration almost daily, even five years later. Some day’s it’s easier and more meaningful than others. Because I know and trust that it works if you do. I’ve seen and experienced too much after all this time.

So what do you say? When are you going to get up – stand up – and never give up? It all starts with one simple step.

Declare YOUR Independence.

Coach’s Way

Digg me

Back from vacation and into the full swing of life once again. As I get older and our kids grow, I appreciate the family time we spend together more and more. My sister’s youngest son graduated High School last week – so most of the family was together for his milestone. He’s also a Baseball State Champion which was won the day we arrived in Virginia.

I was talking with her three boys about how much their Coaches have meant to them over the years playing sports. How they not only taught them how to play the sports they participated in, but lessons learned in sports were woven into life. I’ve known Coach’s like that myself while playing organized sports.

The last sports Coach I had was for golf. I swear, I had every Tom, Dick and Harry trying to tell me how I should hit the ball and play the game. Thing is, none of them were much better than I was. It wasn’t until I actually started working with a Golf Pro that my game got better. I spent years as just another golf hack – and when I picked up a Coach, I worked my way down to a 5 handicap – and the game as a result became much more enjoyable.

It’s amazing how we think nothing of being coached for baseball, golf, or any other organized sport – but when it comes to life most of us will take advice from anyone that offers. Problem is, our circle of influence is quite often no better off than we are. (Sometimes even worse off.) I think I’ve always known this was true, but I don’t think it really sunk in until I went to a T. Harv Ecker Seminar several years ago.

It was so obvious: You can’t expect to learn and grow from anyone who hasn’t already accomplished it themselves.

I have to be honest. In the early years of YTB, I built a team and made it to Coach’s Corner via a Coach. While my love of travel and the passion I had naturally attracted people to me – I was not equipped at the time to build a business. My Business Coach at the time had never been involved in MLM himself, but he was a very successful business mind who worked with several Fortune 500 companies.

It was during that time that I saw and experienced firsthand that Network Marketing was really no different than any other business. The exact same principles applied to both.

Once I got to Coach’s Corner, I actually knew a lot of people who were trying to make it and couldn’t seem to get over the hump. They craved the mentorship and insight that someone like Coach had to offer. But they were just like me – they didn’t have the mindset or the tools necessary to achieve this goal without the proper guidance of a Coach.

While all this was announced last week while I was on vacation – I’m pleased to report that this “problem” has been corrected. For those of you who couldn’t get on the call a week ago or requested the information again, here’s a quick recap of what went down last week:

Introducing “Coach’s Way” – The 2020 Vision for your Life!

The program that many of you have been looking forward to has come to fruition! Coach’s Vision for teaching and helping others find success in life begins this August, and you can register now for a special price. Simply click the ad for “Coach’s Way” in your Rep Back Office. It’s $50 for the month of August, (which is actually a real DEAL if you look into other Coaching and Mentoring programs out there) and if you get three personally sponsored participants to join, too, you’re not paying next month for Coach’s Way. You simply don’t pay for every month you have at least three active participants in the program. (And you better believe Coach will teach you how to reach that level.)

Don’t wait to register, however. The price for this program will go up to $100 at Convention, so join now if you’re at least thinking about it. There are additional components to this program that you’ll receive, but Coach and Scott are saving that for the Convention in July. (They GUARANTEE you’ll love what you hear.)

The first mentoring session from Coach will be held LIVE on July 28 at the 2011 Convention, and only those in Coach’s Way will be able to attend. Details regarding location information and time will be announced closer to the event. Please Note: The first mentoring session is open to everyone in Coach’s Way, but Convention activities do require a 2011 Convention admission ticket.

Remember – if you want to be in Coach’s Corner or become a Director in this company – you need to listen and learn from those who have actually done it. This nonsense of listening to those who have never been there before simply doesn’t cut it – or you’d be there by now.

If you’re serious about getting out of the rat race and achieving the time and financial freedom you’ve always wanted – you need to hook up with a Coach – someone who can teach and guide you on how to do it.

Also, I mentioned what a deal this program is. I’ve seen (and actually spent personally) thousands on Coaching programs. By no means am I knocking these other programs. I credit my Business Coach I worked with in part for my rise to Coach’s Corner several years ago. Sure – he had a limited knowledge of MLM but he did know Business and that’s what Network Marketing actually is – a viable business model.

Just like my golf  game – a Coach was the best  investment  I could have made to reach new levels that I truly wanted but could never achieve. If you’re  not where you want to be right now – and actually think you should be there  by now, somethings got to change. If you continue doing the same old – same old, you’ll continue to get the same results.

If you’re  way isn’t working – you need to try Coach’s Way.

Real Wisdom – Lessons from 40 Films in 7 Minutes

Digg me

I’m the type of person who believes that you can find both lessons and inspiration from just about anywhere. All you have to do is be aware of what’s going on around you. Movies for example are used primarily by most for pure entertainment. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong from the escape that movies provide – we all need that too. But like life, too many of us aren’t aware of the messages and meanings that can really aid us in our own journey we call life.

Someone not only found but took the time to compile “words of wisdom” from 40 films. Most of the clips from these films you’ll probably recognize. There are plenty of Star Wars clips, and my son knows all these quotes. (We’ve watched the entire Star Wars Trilogy countless times.) You’ll also find some very famous quotes that you may have heard at one time or another if you hang out with the right type of people. One of the reasons I like MLM – because they are aware and tuned in to this type of stuff. Although, none of these films have anything to do with Network Marketing or MLM – just life lessons in general.

Enjoy!
