By the time you read this, our family will be in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. I’ve come equiped with my  “What part of NO do you not understand?” T-shirt which I purchased the last time we were in port here. (For those of you who have been here, you know why we need a shirt like this.) We’ll spend a relaxing day at Bamboo Beach Club since the kids wanted some beach time. (And still too young for Dunn’s River Falls)

Tomorrow is a big day in Grand Cayman. We’ll do a couple of excursions including swashbuckling on a Cayman Pirate Adventure in the morning and then spend the afternoon at Dolphin Discovery and the Cayman Turtle Farm.

Later that evening, we will dine and celebrate my daughters 8th (going on 18) birthday aboard Carnival Destiny.

This particular ship has been the top pick for a number of our clients since it was refurbished and started sailing it’s 4 and 5 day itineraries to the Caribbean from Miami. When Ronda and I were awarded Team MVP by our Directors at Convention and given a Carnival Gift Certificate as a way to say thanks for all we do, I pretty much immediately knew when and were we wanted to go.

Of course, you can’t have a proper birthday party without family involved. So we invited extended family to come along for the party on the World’s Most Popular Cruise Line. (They know a really good Travel Agent who got them one heck of a deal.)

So while you enjoy RPM and Red Carpet Day, we’ll be stuck down here in the Caribbean – thousands of miles away. (And lovin’ every minute of it.)

I’ll probably hit the internet cafe a time or two, but don’t be looking for any posts during the week. Like our newsletter that went out yesterday, this was written and scheduled last week before we left.

To keep you entertained – check out our favorite cruise tune this trip. I’m a classic rock and roller, but Michael Franti and Spearhead’s new tune “Say Hey (I love you)” gave me happy feet the first time I heard it. It’s got a create Caribbean beat and will certainly give you the itch.

So until I get back around the way – Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~
If your read Monday’s article, you knew that I was up in Wood River for Red Carpet Day Tuesday. I enjoy these events because I’m able to actually see many of the organization face to face. I get a chance to look people in the eye, instead of talking with people over the phone, or corresponding via e-mail. Events such as Red Carpet, Convention, and other local meetings are important to me simply because like the documentation I have here, seeing the energy, the excitement, and passion in someone’s own eyes completes who we are and what we do.
fun-ship-freddyNow that the company has overcome the allegations in California that some claimed would put YTB out of business, (the California AG’s and critics goal by the way) Wood River was a buzz.
Seeing is believing. I’m sure there will be those who simply take what they read in the media, blogs, and forums for face value. If you want to believe that YTB is banned in California, shut down, or has ended, you’re free to do so. As we move forward, and people see that YTB’s still around, still making headlines, and obviously still operational – I would imagine that it would only cement that critics aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed.
The same type of myths were planted on the internet surrounding YTB’s relationship with Carnival Cruise Lines. Attempting to state anything other than a very solid and stable relationship with the World’s Most Popular Cruise Line has been considerably more difficult to spin however. There’s been plenty of evidence over the years that Carnival not only enjoys, but values it’s relationship with YTB. Most of the evidence is private in the form of e-mails to the field directly from Ann Sedgwick, or the Saturday morning training calls she conducts on the company conference call number. Other evidence is available for everyone via several Sail-a-thons with Carnival and Princess who promote their product during these events.
Critics, as always, will persist however with their own agenda. Attempts have been made to make it look like our relationship with Carnival will soon fall like it did with Royal Caribbean. A few months ago, we decided to revamp and clean up the BookCCL.com accounts. Now that we have a Home Office staff large enough to handle the volume, YTB took on more responsibility asking Associates and TSO’s to call our own Travel Department for any Carnival related questions and bookings.
One of the overzealous critics who’s been on the “24/7 YTB Watch” found a segment in our internal communications and decided they could spin it to mean something else. This new twist with the company’s correspondence to the field is a perfect example of what Andy Cauthen talked about when they distort your response to their own agenda, and render your intentions worthless.
What was initially intended to strengthen our relationship and features was spun as Carnival distancing themselves from our company. They no longer wanted to work with the uneducated Yahoo’s who only want to recruit and pretended to be a Travel Agency.
It was also speculated by critics some time ago that the Home Office created an elaborate story about the Carnival Pinnacle Award. YTB first earned the award back in 2005, and there was a press release and pictures taken of Kim Sorensen and our BDM Ann Sedgwick. The story went that nobody could confirm the 2006 or 2007 award because there wasn’t any press release or additional pictures to match up. Truth of the matter was that over 11,000 National Convention attendees saw the award being given in 2007 and about another 6000 witnessed it down at Funshine in Orlando later that same year. Because one critic said he couldn’t confirm it with Vicki Freed at a trade show, (who I’m sure had a reports of past awards available at that very moment) the rumor was that YTB was blowing smoke.
Some can’t bring themselves to admitting that their mode of confirmation might not have been the best way to document the lie they wanted everyone to believe. But like most of what we read, there was no further documentation, not further verification, and if we wanted to prove them wrong, it was up to us to clean up their mess.
Just like the settlement agreement in California, we need to stop trying to prove to everyone who is right and who is wrong. Remember, when you get into a fight with a pig, you both get dirty, and the pig loves it.
Let our years and our status with Carnival speak for itself here. Type up a support ticket, ask them yourself what’s going on. Anyone who took the time to type up a support ticket or call the Home Office to end the myth that Carnival no longer wants YTB calling or booking through BookCCL.com found out it was a maintenance issue rather than the hand slap critics wanted it to be. Those who had existing bookings and groups through the site were immediately granted access once they submitted a support ticket with proper booking numbers. In addition, many of us have developed relationships with Team Carnival who are always a pleasure to speak with.
On Tuesday, 1500 Website Sellers and Website Owners witnessed Ann Sedgwick not only hand Kim Sorensen a Pinnacle Award, but also heard her say it was our fourth year in a row. She then took time to speak with all of us at Red Carpet about how YTB DOUBLED our production over 2007’s numbers. Kim’s goal in 2008 was to be the number one with the number one, and while we didn’t quite make that number in 2008, if we keep pace with the growth we have, we’ll attain that honor as well.
I can’t think of another supplier or vendor who has more clout, more pull, more credibility in the Travel Industry than Carnival. Disney, who we also work with comes close, but Carnival is one of the largest, most respected leaders when it comes to public perception and respect. They’ve provided hundreds of training calls, a number of ship inspections, semiars at sea, and have been able to provide a very solid solution to the “issues” Travel Agents have concerning FAMS and discounted travel. This five minimum booking policy with each vendor has been compnay wide for over a year now, so why critics still have an “issue” with us getting discounted travel, I couldn’t tell you. To me it’s just further validation that critics simply want to shove their own illusions down everyone’s throat and ignore what YTB is actually doing in the industry.
I’ve been telling you for years about critics, their illusions and their agendas. Andy Cauthen chimed in last week when we saw how our settlement with California was spun by these same critics and the media. It appears the our CEO, Scott Tomer also agrees with how lame the misinformation, myths, and lies are that’s thrown out there to distract everyone from what’s really going on with YTB.
I’ve got to ask you at this point…
Do you know any of these critics personally? Do you have any clue who many of them even are?
They wanted California to shut us down. They want Carnival to dump us.
Do you think it worked?
Then why on earth do thier illusions about who we are and what we do even matter?! Like California, and Carnival, the myths and the lies are catching up with our critics and the tide is starting to turn.
There is more we need to overcome and prove wrong. The battles are far from over. With California and Carnival as the latest examples of why people need to dump the self importance of the overzealous critics, you need to do what I do when I read the lies, the spin, the missinformation created to distract you.
It’s three simple words and it goes like this…
“Thanks for sharing”.
Got To Go Go…
By the time you read this, my family and I will be long gone and well into enjoying our family vacation. With our children now school age, our “travel and vacation” time has been limited to summers and a few weeks throughout the year when they are scheduled out.
I heard The Go Go’s “Vacation” the other day. Back in my radio days in the 80’s, I hated that song, but found myself tapping to the music and looking forward to this week. I swore off John Mellancamps “Jack and Dianeback in the day too, (then John Cougar) but now think it’s a good rocker. “Jack and Diane” was on the Top 40 charts for 10 MONTHS and I had to play it day – after day – after day…while working for a Top 40 Radio Stations in Youngstown, OH and then Pittsburgh, PA.
Typically while on vacation, you can’t keep me away from the computer and the internet, but I think that’s going to change this go around. I’ve got a couple of good books that I’ve wanted to read, which I should have a chance to complete. I also have some writing I’d like to do for some new auto responders for both my YTB Marketing and the 7 Day Quick Start Guide for new team members. (Which include YOUR team.)
It should give me a good opportunity to refuel for the summer months and head into the National Convention with a good head of steam. The countdown begins!
I’ll be back next week with more insights and updates for everyone.
Have yourself a great week and we’ll see you at the top!
P.S. – The FREE Newsletter will still be going out as I have most of next weeks ready and put on auto pilot to go out right on schedule and can assure you that if there is anything new or important to share even in my absence here, I’ll be sure to have it in the there. Just like here, it’s loaded with links and documentation for you to share with clients and prospects alike.
Letting It Go…
I started a huge task last week when I promised John Frenaye that I would get his questions answered. ALL his questions. Over the next couple weeks due to the length of this list, I’m going to focus on each of these questions one at a time. My goal here is not only to answer the question, but also point out why this question is even asked in the first place.
This will also be an excellent opportunity and tool for anyone with additional comments about each of the specific questions to get better clarification. Use the comments section to discuss each of the questions in greater detail. I remind you that I learned how to accomplish such a huge task from Brian Tracy and his courses, which teach that you focus on the each task one at a time, focus on the solution, break it down into manageable chunks, and before you know it, you’ve achieved your goal. (By the way…I just got an e-mail from Brian regarding a New Years Coupon to Save 20% on all his courses!)
It should be a really fun debate, and for those of you in YTB, take this information and documentation and use it. Here are the questions we have gone over thus far.
Question #1 -
Why a compensation plan takes 12 pages to define?
Question #2 – How YTB arrived at $226 Million in travel sold for 2006. (Still waiting.)
Question #3 – Why so little of the “training” at the annual convention was for travel. (OK, YTB only believes in training at other meetings. We can let this one go.)
While we are led to believe that there was “little” training at the annual convention, I pulled up the schedule to see if I or anyone else could spend a day or two just focused on travel. Here is a list of “Travel Related” topics from our National Convention.
What’s New with Apple Vacations and our #1 Top Selling Destination Cancun
Any RTA who wanted “Travel Training” during YTBU, (YTB University) not only could have gotten it, but spent the entire time focused on nothing but “Travel Training”.
In addition, major announcements were made concerning our Travel Business during the General Sessions of the convention, including free Health and Life Insurance for those RTA’s who produce $25,000 in Travel Commissions, (just like our Directors who build teams), a travel sales contest for the Coach’s Birthday Bash, new RTA Credential qualifications and minimum booking requirements, a Two Fly Free Program for our clients, introduction of Fun & Travel Magazine with a focus on Travel, not recruiting, a new booking engine upgrade with a totally new look, and a very generous offer to all those Traditionalists out there to join YTB, one of the largest Travel companies in the country right now.
(Word has it that we’ve doubled our Travel Sales from $226 Million to $550 Million in just one year, but we’ll be rehashing that in June, don’t worry.)
Oh…and that “other training” nobody wants you to know about…
Last year YTB held two travel trade shows called Funshine. One was held in
April in San Diego, and the other was held in October in Orlando. Funshine is a “Travel Show” where our suppliers conduct seminars, and it’s also an opportunity to gain first hand knowledge of vendor specific products.
Check out what an Industry Insider said about YTB’s Travel Training.
Freed said she attended YTB’s conference in early October and saw more than 1,000 attendees in each educational forum. “The desire to learn about the travel business was evident even after I spoke to the general session (over 6,000 attendees) when the CLIA instructor followed me on stage and taught niche marketing,” Freed wrote. “No one left the room, and in fact, the overflow ballroom with big screens set up was packed as well. These folks paid for the conference, an
d there were no free meals or give-aways.”
Isn’t that the same Vicki Freed who just came on board with Royal Caribbean?
In addition, YTB holds two travel training calls each week, one is “Getting Started” on Monday nights, and the other is vendor specific call held on Thursday nights. In addition, YTB launched E-Campus, which was designed by Dr. Marc Mancini and built by TheAcademy.com. (Another course recently added YTB, check it out in your Travel Portal!) CRTA Training is held each weekend across the country with all the emphasis during the morning season focused on Travel.
Those who don’t recognize how much Travel Training YTB actually does doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Most of our Traditionalists are too wrapped up in all the recruiting we do, and that’s not too shabby either, growing by about 40,000 since the National Convention. Based on the massive numbers and growth YTB is experiencing, even with all the adversity they attempt to throw our way, YTB keeps getting bigger, better, and more powerful at every turn.
While “letting it go” is a good start, there is still plenty to let go of before some will realize what YTB is truly all about.
YTB offers FREE Cruise with Carnival…
Thursday, January 10th, 2008
Digg me
I thought that might get your attention… ;-p
I’ve got a couple of questions.
I’m wondering if Carnival has a chance in the next couple days to get the word out about their new sales requirements for FAM’s to those of us in YTB? I’m also wondering what most of YTB will think of Carnival for making this move after our Top Producers enjoy a cruise with them for free. I couldn’t tell you if this has ever been done before, and I imagine that it probably has, but I’m wondering how often Carnival or any other cruise line reserves and entire ship for one company?
Wow…I have a lot of questions today, don’t I?
I spend a lot of time reading comments and posts on forums, message boards, and blogs and I find some of the positioning about what Carnival announced on Wednesday about their new requirements concerning FAM trips. For some reason, everyone who opposes the YTB business model thinks (in general terms) that Carnival is “putting the screws” to YTB for making this move, “turning up the heat” if you will.
Chaaa…right!
What Carnival is doing is trying to let the rest of the travel industry know they hear and understand the issues that Traditional Travel Agents have. For good reason too, Vicki Freed was hammered so bad on her Blog that she had to remove all comments from irate Travel Agents who condemned Carnival for supporting YTB and other Travel MLM’s. The problem is that Carnival knows exactly who and what YTB is. Not only has Carnival awarded their Pinnacle Award to YTB for the last three years in a row, but Carnival was also the company who came to YTB’s aid back in November to help prove to the rest of the industry that YTB sells travel.
Guys, they threw Travel Agents a bone, and they can chew on it all they want. Like I said in my last post, Carnival figured out a way to have their cake and eat it too. The issues are not either/or, and there is a way to have both.
I have to wonder when some will wake up and smell the coffee. They need to open their eyes and look at what just transpired. Can they not only see support Carnival gives YTB or the supporting documentation Travel Weekly and Modern Agent have provided with quotes about MLM’s producing impressive numbers for suppliers? Even long time opposition to YTB Travel Trade now understands the impact of YTB and our growing sales numbers.
Some also believe this is the beginning of the end of the impressive recruiting numbers that YTB has been producing, more than doubling our sales force from 60K to over 135K in 2007 alone. Little do they know, (or simply ignore) that YTB has been laying the ground work for what’s currently going on for months.
Back in August, at the National Convention, the Coach’s Birthday Bash was announced. While the contest does reward our top Power Team Builders, that’s only HALF of the ship. The other half of the ship this weekend are top Travel Sellers with our company. Winners of Travel sales were based on the number of bookings (double occupancy) for all cruises, tours, and vacation packages booked. Air, car, and hotel were ONLY included in the total if all three are booked together. No other combinations of air, car, and hotel applied.
Other Travel related programs introduced back in August included:
- In addition to our Directors who build teams, now any RTA who earns $25,000 in travel commissions in a 12-month period will qualify for fully paid health insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Commission level must be maintained to continue to receive this benefit.
- Effective January 1, 2008, new requirements were placed in order to qualify for a YTB Referring Travel Agent credential card. RTAs joining as of January 1, 2008 must sell a minimum of $1,500 in travel before applying for the RTA credential card. ($2,500 for CLIA requirements)
- Fun & Travel Magazine was introduced as a twice annual publication all about TRAVEL! (And ONLY Travel) This magazine discusses travel trends, features preferred vendors, and reviews the hottest travel destinations.
- RTAs were also introduced a new opportunity to sell a one-year subscription in a Two Fly Free program for a $300 fee. This will allow for free airfare from select cities when purchased in conjunction with a 7-10 night hotel stay (intern
ational destinations are also available).
Many also don’t realize that YTB already had it’s own requirements in place for FAM’s. Any RTA who wanted a FAM trip with Carnival, or any other cruise line, needed to abide and follow the following company requirements.
“Book only two cruises (two cabins) at regular fare for your customers and you’ll be qualified to take another discounted cruise.
In order to book a discount cruise on Princess Cruise Lines you must have sold a minimum of FOUR (4) regular rate cabins on that cruise line. Holland America requires a minimum of FIVE (5) previous bookings of regular rate cabins to qualify.All Reduced Rate cruise requests must be made through the corporate office of YTB Travel Network.
Please submit your request to reducedrates@ytb.com for verification. Any reduced rate requests made directly to the vendor risk cancellation (penalties may apply).”
All announced to YTB Reps and RTA’s long before any of the current issues surrounding Travel MLM’s came to light from the other side. And we still grew like gangbusters in spite of these new requirements and policies that the other side thinks “turns up the heat”.
I have a good friend who’s outside of the industry, (cruisinman) who’s been a real advocate of Travel MLM’s for years. He understands the model very well, as he was with other Travel MLM’s in the mid to late 90’s. For as long as I’ve known Tom, he’s been predicting that suppliers would either turn off, or require exactly what Carnival just announced concerning the FAM issue. If you look at the thread I’ve linked to and comments concerning Tom, you can easily come to the conclusion that not only do Traditional Travel Agents not like him, but he also doesn’t care what they think.
I say “Bully Mr. Coleman for your insight.” While Tom hasn’t been on mark, (Nor have I) all the time, he does have a much better overview and understanding of the entire industry. He had this Carnival move pegged years ago, and I’m willing to bet that not one Travel Agent that he irritates will recognize that.
But I will.
Knowledge and understanding is power. For those of us who have a firm grasp of what’s really going on in this industry right now like YTB, this Carnival move helps YTB separate itself from all those “Overpriced Travel Clubs” that Nadine Godwin mentioned in her predictions on Monday. I suppose we will always have individuals who take predictions like Nadine’s and twist them to mean something entirely different. Verbiage like “in some cases” automatically translates to “YTB”, the phrase “impressive sales” translates to “some sales”, and “players” translate to Travel MLM’s not Suppliers.
If Travel Agents need to view the issues surrounding Travel MLM’s from this perspective, it’s certainly within their right. In the meantime, YTB just keep chugging along, doing what we do, and while I recognize what’s being said, I have to question the validity of the translations by those opposed to our model.
Make no mistake about how 2008 is starting out for YTB. While there are plenty of issues remaining and more work to be done, some of the dust is starting to settle and we are only know beginning to see what is clearly a change for the better for everyone involved in this industry.
Latest news from YTB National Convention!
Monday, August 27th, 2007
Digg me
I’ve been thinking about all those people who told me that YTB would never work, that it’s a scam, it would never last, it would never amount to anything. Travel Weekly as the 35th largest Travel Agency in the Country, and ranked number 11 for leisure travel sales. A 6 year old company with no advertising, requires no experience to get started, and relies on our Agents to simply point people to their web site? Who knew? Not only has our company stock been climbing since December of last year, we benefited from a 1-3 stock split this summer tripling the amount of shares that we now own, and just before the Convention, YTB posted a $1.7 profit for the second quarter of 2007. My, how things have changed.
Well – Well – Well, take a look at us now!
Coach Tomer was quoted in an interview back in January how we should respond to all the critics. “You beat that by proving yourself. We just keep doing the right thing.” Because we did the right thing, it’s been a really good summer for our family and YTB Travel Network with recognition and announcements that not only adds credibility, but nails the door shut that YTB International would never amount to anything. I’m still gloating over our listing in
Nearly 11,000 Referring Travel Agents attended the YTB annual National Convention in St. Louis, MO. I was very proud to have a number of team members who attended a weekend of recognition of the past year’s high sales achievers, providing team building ideas, inspirational and motivational seminars, future plans, and several major announcements. The first two days of the Convention, we had the opportunity to select from 132 business classes at YTB University. These classes were taught by field leaders, corporate staff, and outside professionals. The information was invaluable enabling all of us to learn from the best of the best.
When the General Sessions started Friday morning I was blown away by the amount of people who were in attendance, but even more so by the dynamic stage complete with a cruise ship and what appeared to be a life size commercial airliner which hung above a runway. The atmosphere was certainly electric right from the start.
Did I say several major announcements? Right from the start, the company released major bombshells at every General Session all weekend long, starting with our new personalized booking engine to include more features that myself and our clients have requested. We have a new, state-of-the-art cruise engine, and also added several niche sites that will appeal to travel customers. Fell free to check out our new Golf Site, Flowers Site, and YTB Weddings page which can be accessed through the Extras tab on the home page along with YTB Cars which was also launched in July. Additional specialty sites are being developed and will be available soon to include skiing, adventure, and extreme travel custom pages.
Our new Marketing website has been completely revamped and launched with a spectacular new look and tons of new features to better assist us in our YTB business! You can read recent BizReports and hear the latest Conference Training Calls without have to have access to our Back Office. Check out the new high resolution “Take a Look at YTB” video located in the center of the page! This has been a surefire way to interest prospects in hearing more about this great company.
RTAs just starting out now have the capability to purchase health care insurance with no questions asked! In addition to our Directors who build teams, now any RTA who earns $25,000 in travel commissions in a 12-month period will qualify for fully paid health insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Commission level must be maintained to continue to receive this benefit. Now the company will provide both team builders AND Travel Commission builders equal benefits in both Health and Life Insurance. By the way, the Life Insurance Policy was also increased from $100,000 to $150,000 for our Directors.
Effective January 1, 2008, new requirements will be in place in order to qualify for a YTB Referring Travel Agent credential card. RTAs joining as of January 1, 2008 must sell a minimum of $1,500 in travel before applying for the RTA credential card. RTA’s who wish to qualify for CLIA credentials must sell a minimum of $2,500 in travel in order to carry this prestigious credential. Renewal credentials will not be required to meet this qualification. (Annual testing and fees with CLIA still apply for all RTA’s)
YTB’s famous Bill of Rights has now been amended to add even more protection. In addition to our residual commission, YTB now protects all Rep commissions and bonuses.
YTB is in the process of getting “Cleared for Takeoff” in Canada! The company will announce during Coach’s Birthday Bash a firm CANADA GO LIVE date, which will be sometime between January 5th and January 20th, 2008. YTB will schedule a Kickoff Canada meetings within 30 days after the GO LIVE date. I’ll keep an eye on upcoming BizReports for the latest news for our neighbor to the north! (Beauty eh?”)
YTB is also introducing a twice annual publication all about TRAVEL! “Fun and Travel” magazine discusses travel trends, features preferred vendors, and reviews the hottest travel destinations. It will be available at the Funshine Travel Trade Show in Orlando, Florida to be held Friday and Saturday, October 5-6, 2007. More information on pricing and availability will be published in upcoming BizReports and I’ll be sure to let you know.
YTB is also looking to help the “Traditional Travel Agents” fight back. I know for example most Travel Agents still in business today focus on the Luxury market. Cruises, All-Inclusive packages, Tours and such. I also know loyal clients often call for airline, hotels, and car rentals that are not productive use of time. Because they are loyal clients Agents can now send clients to the internet to book their day to day travel themselves through a private label YTB Booking engine tied to the Agency. Agents can now take back some of the commission lost to airlines and those big on line booking engines. You may have heard of them, Travelocity, Orbitz, and Expedia? For a set period, RTAs credentialed by another travel agency can qualify to become a YTB Referring Travel Agent for only $49.95. We will waive the initial $449.95 start up costs! This offer good August 17 through midnight CT December 2, 2007.
RTAs will also have an opportunity to sell a one-year subscription in a Two Fly Free program for a $300 fee. This will allow for free airfare from select cities when purchased in conjunction with a 7-10 night hotel stay (international destinations are also available). In a recent comparison on a trip to Hawaii for a group of six, savings of over $10,000 could have been realized using this program. Two Fly Free program details are being finalized and this program will be available through the RTA booking engine. I’ll watch upcoming BizReports for more details.
Two new DVD tools and books where introduced as well, “Coach’s Playbook” and “Circle of Champions”. “Coach’s Playbook” is a 55-minute DVD and booklet showing you how to effectively build your business, created by the founders, Coach, Scott, and Kim. This includes YTB business fundamentals, the key to understanding the YTB compensation plan, and an inside look at how YTB began and the passion behind it. “Coach’s Playbook” will be included in the Toolbox welcome kit for all new RTAs. The “Circle of Champions” DVD and booklet features the stories of the Top 12 Million Dollar Diamond Ring earners. They share you with what this business means to them as they invite you into their homes and families. “Circle of Champions” booklet also included in the Toolbox welcome kit for all new RTAs.
O
ur new 131,000 square foot Home Office being renovated is going Green! The building will meet the goals of the 2030 Worldwide Challenge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the building by 50%. It will be built on new construction standards called LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) The LEED Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. We are also working to buy a large swath of nearby land, currently a cornfield, along Route 143, and wants to build a hotel and conference center and perhaps more office space, total land owned will be more than 59 acres.
Think it’s been a good summer? You bet it has! From the looks of it, it’s going to get even better as we continue to execute our business plan and continue to take the industry by storm. There is little doubt YTB is the current leader in the Networking Travel Industry, and from what’s been laid out before us, there is little evidence that this will change. We make no bones about the fact that our goal is the be the #1 Travel Agency in the world, and it’s good to see signs that we are rapi
dly moving in that direction.
If you’d like help get us to our goal, we’d love to have you! Feel free to pick up the phone and call us or simply leave your information on our automated lead capture page so we can call you on our dime at www.justpictureitnow.net.
As in Just Picture It Now, you too can be a part of this incredible company and industry.
Your Ticket To Paradise
Your Ticket To Paradise” happens to be the largest organization of active RTA’s in YTB, or YourTravelBiz as it’s also known. We are very proud to be part of this organization and prouder still to be recognized as leaders within the organization, just in time for the National Convention in St. Louis, August 15 – 19.
Last evening, Tim Dominey, a Second Level Director in YTB awarded both Ronda and I with “Your Ticket To Paradise” team jackets. These jackets not only recognize both Ronda and I as leaders of our own team, but leaders in the company as well.
But we couldn’t have done any of this by ourselves. That’s one of the things we love about this company and this business model, it’s about people helping people. With just a few core people that we have personally found, they have found others that have grown our team to over 200 at this time and we are getting closer every day to becoming Directors ourselves. We see it, we feel it, and it’s so close we can almost touch it.
It’s hard not to be proud right now with all the great news that has come out over the last two months about the company. The summer started out with the announcement of YTB International bringing on KCSA Worldwide as Investor Relations Counsel, with our Annual Investors meeting the following week. The Annual Meeting of Stockholders that took place on June 11, 2007. All six proposals submitted by YTB’s Board of Directors to the Company’s stockholders were approved at the meeting, including a 1-3 split of the company stock.
The beginning of June, we also announced the launch of YTB Cars and sales have already been made. While the pilot program has launched with Chrysler, Dodge, and Nissan at its inception, we recently found out that the largest car rental company worldwide, who also has corporate headquarters in St. Louis, has been in and out of our home office since the launch in order to help us expand our program.
Then came the news we all new was coming, but just didn’t know exactly were we would place. Travel Weekly’s Top 50 Power List for 2007. As part of the Power List, YTB was ranked 35th among all travel agencies and included in the top 11 leisure travel agencies. The ONLY Network Marketing Company to ever make the Top 50! To be ranked with the likes of Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, American Express, and AAA is so incredibly HUGE for a small, young company like ours. Travel is our business and we expect to handle 900,000 travel bookings representing 1.4 million individual travelers with a customer cost of approx $1 Billion in 2007. On May 31 of this year 57,000 of our 88,000 travel agents had 157,000 paid for travel bookings pending customer travel and commissioning. 80,000 new bookings for 110,000 individual travel customers were entered into our system in May alone!
All this and the National Convention is yet to come! MAJOR Announcements are announced every year at the convention. Two years ago it was the Medical and Life Insurance and our Bill of Rights, and last year it was our feature in Success From Home and our $6000 Guarantee. (Both of these announcements by the way have made their way into other compensation packages with other companies just to keep pace.)
It’s been a REALLY good summer and it looks like it’s just going to get better!
