Can We Stop With The Charade?
Three years ago, YTB’s most famous cynic came bursting onto this blog with the mission to tell me – you, and anyone else who could stomach it – that MLM and Travel was a bad mix. When John Frenaye landed here, it took a nanosecond to figure out how this guy ticked. It’s a very standard and predictable M.O. that works by categorizing, separating, hiding, judging, condemning, attacking and rejecting.
Today, the name John Frenaye is synonymous with Anti-YTB after three years of rants and obsessive – compulsive behavior. Daily life consists of prowling the Internet for any tid-bit or morsel of food that can be reworked or rearranged and thrown back out in an attempt to justify his radical cause. His obsession has also compelled him to join every Facebook Fan page YTB or ZamZuu has – opting in under various aliases on several YTB newsletters (including ours), and even joining YTB a few years ago as a free “Rep” just to gain access to company information and communication to rework and refine with his own twist in an effort to satisfy his immense appetite over YTB.
Proper etiquette, rules or boundaries have little place for someone who needs to feed a powerful addiction. Nor is there any room for reasoning or solution based alternatives. All “pro” statements that don’t conform to the “Frenaye Creed” are quickly met with a direct rebuttal or even better – an abrupt and public reprimand. Many have described his uncompromising behavior cult like.
John is personally responsible for spreading his “creed” to every available board, forum, and blog, promoting his radical thinking and perceptions. Always watching – always monitoring the vast amount of communication and sites about YTB, just as soon as there’s a comment to support YTB – you can bet that John will be there to distract everyone from the topic at hand to trash the model, company, Founders and members.
After years of incessant rants – about the only option anyone has these days is the “ignore feature” found on these forms and boards to protect your computer (or your mind) from being infected. I have very little knowledge or care about what he’s writing these days, but there’s only one person I can think of that fits this description:
“Obviously, from your blog you will spin anything to the negative against this company. Some of it may be for good reason…some of it seems like an old crazy girlfriend I dated in high school.”
What’s also obvious is that John’s reputation precedes him.
While I’m years removed from the confines of alcoholism, I remember what it’s like to be consumed by addiction. How the compulsion controls every aspect of your life. True, to outsiders who see the daily rants, it looks to be bizarre and dysfunctional. For John however, life feels quite normal – even “right” because it’s so routine.
His own blog throughout the years, has been the home port to spew all that’s wrong with YTB. He’s prided himself on an open blog forum that allows all views and positions. A few months back however, his open blog forum policy was drastically changed and comments have since been shut down – completely.
The only views expressed or allowed are those of the owner now. Mind you, it’s no big loss. In fact – I applaud the disposal of daily rants and trash talking designed to keep emotions, rumors and fear at a frenzy level.
However, when I heard about the excuse in this thread (sorry, no direct link because Ainsworth is also on “ignore”) – I couldn’t help but think how John has deceived his own flock. Has John told his followers that someone was attacking his kids on Facebook?
Mind you, I would agree that would certainly be enough to scare any parent. (This one included.) If that were truly the case, I’d even feel applauded over John’s situation. It’s just not right – and if I find documented proof this is the case – beware.
Truth is however, from what I know about the comments made on his blog – they weren’t about his children at all – but about John and his personal failures as a young adult and travel professional. After all the years of poking and prying into everyone else’s lives and publicly posting them on his blog, someone has finally had enough and exposed the real John Frenaye and his less the perfect behavior and past on this site.
Several members of YTB have known about John’s troubles for some time, including me – but nobody has stooped to this level before. I’ve been asked on several occasions to post these findings in the hope it would turn the tables against John. Some have even speculated that it would shut him up.
About all it would do for sure would provoke more anger and resentment. John’s clearly not able to look at himself or his views as anything less than admirable and above reproach. With John’s bizarre behavior and ridiculous spin over the years, I’ve really never seen the need to add this information into the mix. In my opinion, the documentation provided here related to YTB would conclude this guy isn’t playing a full deck.
Some may consider this new blog unfair or underhanded.
If that’s the case, would it be underhanded for John to purchase “thefactsaboutytb.NET” to link to his blog? Would it be considered unfair that John also created a “Zam (space) Zuu” fan page to mock and poke fun at the name, our members and our Founders? Would it be considered a personal attack that John posted a link to a news story similar to the one about him surrounding one of our Directors? How ’bout posting personal bankruptcy findings?
John’s been guilty of all these offensive and abusive actions over the years. Frankly, I’m somewhat surprised it took this long for it to show up in cyberspace. When you play with this kind of fire, you’re bound to get burned sooner or later.
With that said – I have no idea if John’s going to wise up or straighten up. It’s not my place – and I’m completely powerless in helping him at this point. The only person that can help John is John – that much I do know.
My hope however, is this information will help you let go and move on like I have. John’s perception of YTB is similar to telling me the sky is purple. Rant all you want about it – it’s not going to change the color from blue to purple simply because you yell louder than I do – or make believe you know any more than I do.
That charade ended the second he barged in here and he opened up his mouth.

Hey Dougie! So, thought you had me on ignore, huh? I know this will never, ever hit your blog, but knowing that you’ll read it is enough for me!
First things first. What do you have to say regarding the fact that ytb stock has been de-listed from the OTC market, and is now back on the pink sheets? What do you have to say regarding the fact that the stock is now worth only $0.0395? That’s a looooooong drop, don’t ya think? Why don’t you do a blog post on that? I’ll tell you why, because you’re a chicken shit.
Second….yes, the timing of John turning off the comment feature on his blog did coincide with someone “outing” his past, but to blame it entirely on that just shows more of your ignorance. Until you have SOLID proof, why don’t you just shut the fuck up about things you have no idea about? I saw the postings people were making to his childrens Facebook, and if someone posted like things to your childs page, you’d be calling in the local police, the state police and the FBI, as well as making a HUGE issue of it here on this pathetic blog.
Third….I thought this blog was supposed to be about all things travel related? Seems lately that you’ve had trouble finding things to write about that intertwine travel and ytb. Guess that’s because they’ve all but said that travel is not their main interest anymore. Aw, poor travel”pro”.
Now, why don’t you put down the bottle…..oops, I forgot. You’re not actively drinking anymore, but you’re STILL an alcoholic, and you act like one. Always trying to blame others for your own ills. You need some rehab, dude!

Still living “rent free” inside your head I see.
Since you asked, try this link and type in John Frenaye, John W. Frenaye, or even JVE Group and you’ll find the documentation that you need. It’s public record and unlike you and John, I can back up what I write.
That being said – I would most certainly agree that John’s children are out of bounds. If what you say is true – why don’t you stop attacking and help me out with some documentation? Believe it or not – I agree that the kids are out of bounds – WAY out of bounds.
Problem is – I think it’s nothing more than a stunt or excuse – and to use your kids to hide behind speaks more about John’s character and morals and until he man’s up – I’m of the view that the “chicken shit” is John, not me.
Lastly, not that this has anything to do with the topic at hand, and is nothing more than a lame attempt to take the focus of John and put it back on me and YTB. (You know “deflect – deflect – deflect”)
Not all that upset or concerned with the delisting. In fact, I kind of like it because it prevents loons like you from trashing our company on the new listing. (Note – no message board there.)
I look forward to the documentation that you claimed to have seen.

Ah, but you see…it’s not MY documentation to share. It’s John’s. It’s up to him to decide who he trusts to share that information with. Obviously, he trust me, and not you.
The problem you have, I have known all about John’s past, long before you and your kind dug it up. I believe in second chances, and he has proven himself to be WAAAAAY more trustworthy than you, snotty, skimmy or crotch.
No one is trashing anything, except for you. What do you call the above blog posting, if not trashing. You see, Dougie, when you point a finger, there are four pointing back. So, no, I am not trying to deflect anything, I am merely pointing out the truth.
You also didn’t address the fact that your beloved travel is falling by the wayside with ytb, or the fact that the majority of your postings on a supposed travel-related blog have nothing to do with travel! What’s up with that?

Actually, I’d prefer to talk to John about this directly. Your childish name calling, excuses, justification and deflecting are pointless.
Look – I’ve stated several times that I’m aware of the issues and anger you hold against me. I get that.
Problem is I can’t help you with that noise and baggage. It’s something only you can resolve.
Nor does it help John.
So let’s stop playing the role of “John’s Bitch” – and start acting like a true friend for John shall we?
Have John get in touch with me, and we’ll talk this over like two adults and parents. (If what you claim is actually true.)
He has my e-mail address, my mailing address, and my phone number.
I’ll not only take this post down, I’ll make a personal and public apology, and help him prosecute the individual who went after his kids.
I’m on his side if that’s truly the case. But I need something more than some lunatics word that it happened – and a valid explanation of a connection between his blog and Facebook.

What, when I say something that’s true, it’s now an excuse, justification and deflection? Why is it that when anyone disagrees with you, we are evil? And who are you to say anything to anyone, when you yourself in the above post call me “John’s Bitch”, and a lunatic? I could say the same thing about you, in regards to you having your nose so far up the heiny of the old man and his son…….
I have no anger with you, and the only issue I have with you is that you hold yourself out to be a travel”pro”, when all you are is someone that rents a website that is identical to hundreds of others out there, have no real experience in the trenchs, etc. Anyway, now that ytb is moving away from travel, I have a feeling that you won’t be around for long.
I’ll let John know of your offer, but chances are you’ll never hear from him. He, like I, are basically fed up with you. The only reason that I came here yesterday was to just let you know that I’m still around, watching, and when you make an ass of yourself, and state blatent lies about anyone (like the original blog post) I’m gonna call you out on it.
You claim that you’re so versed on how this here interweb thing works, and you can’t figure out a connection between his blog and his childrens Facebook? If you can’t figure it out, then your denser than I thought. What would be the one thing to get to you the most? Get to your heart the most? Anything to do with your children. So, that’s what someone did to John. They wanted to hurt him as deeply as they could, so they went after his children. Get real, Doug. You aren’t that stupid to not be able to figure it out.
Oh, BTW, do you still have Rhonda waiting tables to bring some cash into the house?

That’s just it Ains – I haven’t seen any truth that his kids where ever even mentioned. John (or you possibly) are simply using the story about his kids to deflect and place the attention back on YTB. To instill even more anger and resentment in an already twisted and dysfunctional illusion.
Both of you just throw stuff out thinking that nobody would ever question either of you. And when someone does – all you can do is scream louder and stomp harder.
Look – I could be wrong. If I am, I’ll make it right. All I need is proof – some sort of documentation. Can’t be that hard. I did it with the Maryland Public Records Link and this news story and have done it for years.
I didn’t make those links up Ains – that’s the kind of “truth” I’m talking about. You asked – and I backed it up.
Now…this incessant rambling and trash talking you’re doing is getting us nowhere. (But I’m sure it makes you feel better.)
Last call – put up or shut up. Until then – I’m not going to waste any more time with your charade.

First he knew about John’s troubles, then claim it’s a blatant lie?
He’s so forgiving with second, third, fourth, fifth chances, for a tool like John when this group hasn’t given us any chance to prove ourselves as a legitimate host. We’re the only agency these guys trash every year on Travel Weekly’s Power List and it’s going on four years now.
He says he’s not angry, but his actions speak a very clear and entirely different story. And he’s telling you to get help? As if that’s going to solve his anger issues and problems?
And what’s with calling you stupid when you ask a question? It’s because you ask questions that you’ve exposed their charade.
If John’s having problems with his kids, I’d suggest a solution through ZamZuu called KidZafe. Awesome product! And while he’s at it, I’d also recommend Entrust for John. While it won’t keep him out of trouble, it will protect his identity.
Great post and great comments Doug! I love the way you hold these guys accountable for us. They’ll never admit it but you’ve exposed the truth and the real problem here once again. This is priceless!

We all get that guys like Ainsworth and John aren’t congruent. It’s a core reason why they’re still so far behind the curve and the true source of their frustrations.
All this has nothing to do with me, you, or our company. It comes from their own noise and programming.
It only becomes your issue if you choose to take ownership of what they say. Again, it’s like trying to tell me the world is flat and the sky is purple. Scream all you want – but it’s not going to change what I know to be true or accurate.
